When we moved to our current home 20 years ago now we had just two hostas and to be truthful I just didn't care for them. I dug up every 5 years and split into one-fouth then replanted.
I do have to admit I even put these in places that well shouldn't have been. I belong to another site where one grower suggested that I give up the brugmansia garden to grow something simpler and less work. I made a few trades at that site for hosta when folks wanted to try brugmansias. When the huge tree fell last year and I had to rethink where some of the hostas were as they fried last year. So taking all this to heart here is my new hosta beds in the back of the Brugmansia gardens. Also will toss in the hosta wall that is what was done with the two we originally had here. I know from seeing some of the hostas here and there that some maybe to close but until I kill off some of the brugs they will have to stay where they are for now.

With the dropping of the neighbor's fence we really had to rethink the brug garden and decided the lower hostas were the way to go.

Very beautiful Hostas, Karma. I am a Hosta nut myself. They can be and are addictive.

I worked on the hosta bed this past weekend to get the bark in there and leave a ring where the hosta is bare. We took out our two cypress trees so I have chips to make the utility path. I may rethink after seeing what the rain did over night.

Wow, Karma,
What a difference! So are those baby hostas that are in the pots, that your planted from seed?

Yes karylyn those were hosta started from seeds, right now I have 8 flats of seedlings that I have of one of our H. sieboldiana 'Elegans.' I hope that is right name as again I'm just starting to learn. I have the Hosta Encyclopedia and have flagged each page that contains one of the named hostas that we have in our garden so I can keep track. I love seeing what these seeds turn out to be!

Karma,

Make sure you add sum and substance to your collection. They are beautiful and get really big, if you like that.

I purchased a 2 gallon pot of one the other day, along with 'Krossa Regal' which is upright growing

What is nice I won't have to bring them inside!!
