Author Message   Neshane  My Weather Posted on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 - 06:52 pm EST :    I went out to see how my elephant ear bulb is doing since we have been on vacation. Oh, my there it was lying on top of the ground with all the roots eaten off and some of the bulb had bites out of it too. Wondered what ate it!!?? Got raccoons? Sure sounds like it. We have about a zillion and I'm soooo tired of them. DH has been trapping and relocating them but their population hasn't lessened. But we do have squirrels & chipmunks. I can't buy new bulbs now, I'll have to wait until next year. I'm so dissappointed. The next day I checked on it and two branched were broken or ate off!!! Poor little plant, I don't know it the squirrel chewed it or jumped on it. I'm just not having luck with this plant!!! Think I should dig it up this fall and put it in a pot or put just the bulb inside?? Neshane - Indiana, Zone "5b"
