I love heucheras, but have found that many of the commercial hybrids won't thrive for me. Imagine my surprise to discover that California has 21 species of native heucheras!

My favorites are Heuchera maxima, and a native hybrid called Heuchera 'Lillians Pink'. The one in front is H. maxima with white flowers; Lillians Pink' is in the rear with the pink flowers. The show goes on for about 2 months.

Best of all, as natives, they don't need water during our 6-month dry summer!
