This past weekend I planted a pretty 'Purple Petticoats' heuchera to sit between two bright greens...Dolce Key Lime Pie and Lime Rickey. I was out for a walk and to admire this particular trio and felt my heart sink to see this had been eaten away to a few small leaves. I wonder if that rabbit had a tummy ache? Will this grow back? I sure hope so. :(

Sunny, I don't have much experience with these but a I have few Purple Palace. I usually trim back the old leaves and they just grow new. So hopefully yours will be OK. Right now mine are suffering from heat, they were in full shade before and the gardeners cut back the tree, now they get morning sun till about 12 and that's has caused some of them to brown on the edges.

I had a similar experience, Tanya, when a deer had a feast on my purple heuchera. I thought at first it was a bunny, but then saw the hoof prints. As it turned out, the heuchera bounced back and was larger than the other two in my garden that had been untouched. I don't think it does them any harm at all to be cut (munched) back.

Oh, gosh, me too. I'm going to give my shade garden a little light rose spray as a deterrent. Hope the critters get the message!

Tanya, I moved two of my heucheras from the hosta bed that is in heavy shade this spring because they were basically rotting from lack of sun. Not much left but the roots and a few sprigs. A week after I had moved them they looked great. I know this isn't the same as being eaten by a rabbit but hopefully yours will rebound the same as mind did. Fingers crossed!

Thanks, Tammy. I was out watering the shade garden this morning when I noticed 'Purple Petticoats' had been chomped down again. It must be very tasty...

That's a shame,Tanya! This morning I found one of the big branches of my oak leaved hibiscus had been chewed off. I think posting those pics of the bunny was a jinx!
