I'm from Kansas and have just started my compost bin a few months ago. We have received SO much rain this past month, that I have this plant taking over half of my bin! Any ideas what it is? Ants seem to love it - it's very fuzzy and prickly to touch. More photos are at www.photobucket.com/rebecky80 (in the "outside" album)

I also have another little guy growing in the corner. Would love to know that that is before I kindly remove them!

Thanks!

Looks like you are going to have potatoes and squash for dinner in a couple of months. Squash would be the fuzzy prickly one. I can't pinpoint either variety but I would guess a Zucchini and a Russet.

Thanks! I'm not up on veggie garden plants and this is a first time experience with a compost bin. I guess anything that goes in may end up coming back out...

Maybe I won't pull them out right away...!
