That looks to be a Croton(Codiaeum),attractive plants that i don't think i can grow as they don't like draughts and dipping temperatures. Good luck with it,its very brightly coloured, lovely plants.
Or could it be a Euphorbia?

I think it's a croton too, but then I don't know anything about euphorbias. Also, I didn't think crotons were indoor plants because they need a lot of direct sun.

We live in the Middle East - we have ample direct sunlight so that's no problem for it whatever it is ! ;-)

Well over here they are definitely houseplants-we certainly couldn't grow them outside! They're listed in all my houseplant books.

I vote it's a croton (Codiaeum variegatum) - I'm looking at one in my office right now. It does seem to like sunlight and regular watering. Mine looks more like a ground cover ;) - yours looks like a tree compared to mine. I've had mine for 2 years. Mine has more lanceolate leaves and yours seems to be more ovate. According to the marker with mine it is a "Petra" variety.

Yea there are many forms of croton, all with colourful leaves and too delicate for my house! Related to Euphorbia i believe.
