Discovered this tree during a walk and have never seen anything like it here in zone 3.
Anyone know what it is?

It has an odd new branch with very green bark. (and looks like it might have weak wood as it appears to be propped up by a birch branch).

It's a 'Toba' hawthorn, Crataegus x mordenensis 'Toba'.
