Lost as to how to post picture. Trying to figure out what these plants could be. Suspect several are linked to bird seed. None were planted intentionally except the unknown "dead" plant that was in the container when I set it in the yard. I wish you could see and recognize my "new" pet, the green spider that has taken up residence in this plant.

I see at least one Asteraceae and about 5 or 6 maple trees - Acer rubrum (red maple) I believe. That tall fuzzy one probably some form of Asteraceae or more specifically some variety of Soldigo (Goldenrod). The one next to it with the broader leaves is probably a sunflower - unknown version. I see some sort of grass that doesn't appear to be a bird food variety like barley or wheat but *could* be rye. That thing with the little red fruit, red petioles and lanceolate leaves is hard to tell.

How do Maples propagate? How did they end up in a "dead" flower pot left outside? Sunflowers I get, seed from the bird feeders over head. Still working on the red "bloom". If it develops more I will take more pics.

1 - maple seedling w/ grasses
2 - looks like sunflowers from birdseed mix
3,4 - Goldenrod
5 - I don't recognize this one and the detail is too blurry. I can't even tell if the berry is attached to the leaves below. The berry almost looks like a rosehip but the leaves don't. It looks a little like it could fall in with a type of Saint John's Wort - Hypericum but I would need more details like a clear picture of the berries, buds, leaves and how they are arranged. The leaf also looks like Indian Hemp but the berry wouldn't match that.

Do many of these come from bird seed?

Rish, have you never seen the little winged seed pods of maples flying around like little copters? This could be how.

3 and 4 might not be goldenrod - it could be the one with the minuscule white flowers - the name escapes me...horseweed. You will know if it is flowering now.
And the sunflower - maybe it is Jerusalem Artichoke? I can't see well enough. Not sure if the leaves match and can't really see the center. When you take a close up, you should stand back a bit so your subject comes into focus and then you can blow it up and crop it on the computer.
Looks like you got fuschia in that pot too.

yes I have seen them, just not recently, or around here! Very curious! Maybe a child with a "helicopter" toy?

It just amazes me that so much could grow without "intention".
