Took some friends to see the red squirels at Forby and on the way visited Crosby beach Liverpool to see the Anthony Gormley sculptures. He is a world famous sculpture and he has an exhibtion of 100 models of his body on the beach which are covered by water as the tide comes in. Sorrty about the graffiti on the explanation but this is part of life here. Then the squirel.

Beautiful. The squirrel too (grin). Actually, I do think the human body is beautiful even though I was being a bit facetious. I think also that Gormley's idea is very clever here, and perhaps a bit reminiscent of The David (sadly, we have a lot of graffiti also)? Tony, what are the sizes of these statues, and what keeps the statuary from falling down when the tide rushes out past it? He must have put in some very, very deep supports for them.

Sorry for the delay in replying, life has been a bit busy. The statues are life size and seem to be mounted on large blocks of concrete set into the sand.I am not very arty but it is quite an amazing sight to see them going from being stood on dry sand to being submerged. On a sad note the squirrels have had a disease and most have died. They will need to restock from other areas as they are cut of from any other populations

The Angel of the North is very near to where I live and is another version of the Anthony Gormley form. Love it. The red squirrels are probably the cutest things ever! But they are going into a serious decline which is very worrying. Thanks for posting these.
