We first discovered this place 8 years ago and this was our tenth visit in that time. The first 3 times we went with a british holiday company staying at whichever hotel was offering the best deal. The holiday company then pulled out unable to sell it because of its remoteness and long transfer from the airport. We, like many brits continued to go independently. This is real unspoilt Turkey. It is mainly a turkish resort with the regular brits arriving in May or September. To us it is like a second home, we have made so many friends there both Turkish and British and it is very close to our hearts. When we tell people there are no roads or shops they ask what do you do there. Well the answer is you enjoy. Long lazy days on the beach or chilling in the river resturants, evenings with good food, playing cards with the locals, lazy boat trips, swimming and eating freshly caught fish cooked on the boat. Walking in the pine woods, the smell of the earth as it cools after a hot day and the smell of the tavernas as they start to cook in the evening. Efes beer and of course the raki. Thank you for indulging us. Look out for the cute little Turkish guy at the end, he is going to break a few hearts.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us Pat! It reminds me of some of the "camps" in upstate NY. Nice shots of the cyclamen. Are you going to post some more photos in the cyclamen forum?

Sorry that is all I found, it is way too early and too hot. It is difficult to imagine in a few weeks there will be tens of thousands of them.

Thanks for sharing these lovely photos, Pat. I've never really seen many pictures of Turkey before but it seems the scenery is quite beautiful.

Looks and sounds like you had a great time Pat; the perfect 'chill out' holiday. I too think Turkey is a fantastic country. We have been there just twice. Like yourself, we go on holiday in May and September, which we think are the best months, (as hubby loves birdwatching too). We've been to Dalyan, which sounds very similar to your resort, especially if you get away from the town. The scenery is just amazing. We love the Turkish people too, they are so hospitable, warm and friendly. Seeing your photos has whetted my appetite to go there again.

Sorry to hear that Tony, but we all can sympathize. At least you have a good amount of memories. Let's hope things turn around some time soon,
