Hi we just got back home and thought you might like to see some warm tropical pics, and just to show you that Oz isnt all kangaroos and gum trees. Some of the tropical plants around the pools
One of our hotels
The monorail from our hotel to the casino
The view north from the 78th floor
The view south
Their are extensive canal systems inland as far as you can see, these homes are all multi million dollar dream homes. But dont try and swim in the canals it is estimated there are 600 man eaters cruising these inland canals. There was a news item that showed someone fishing for sharks from their seventh floor high rise and he was very successful landing seven of the monsters but the beaches are safe. Just cruising the waterways.
How the other half live up here.

I did Not know that the Gold Coast was That built up! I love your photos Steve and it's so good to see you posting again. Your first photo is about as lovely and perfect a floral shot as one could get. Maneaters in the canals--Wo! I think my favorite photo is your flag and the boat; just a reminder of your country which I'm loving, thanks to photos and posts from Aussie Gardenbuddies!

Yes it is Denise, but if you visit you can also find miles of pretty similar coastline without the skyscrapers. Plenty of places where you can be the first person for the day to leave footprints in the sand..which makes for excellent beachcombing! The Gold Coast is the perfect lifestyle for many, for me I prefer my sand sea and sun without concrete cars and casinos. A personal preference.

I need to visit this forum more often! What an inviting place. It reminds me of Miami. My favs are the pics from the 78th floor.

Great photos Steve! To me, the Gold Coast doesn't seem congested at all. Oh, perhaps with tall buildings, etc.., but the streets look almost empty without bumper to bumper traffic congestion and the beaches as well look like there is plenty of room for one to roam. I love the photo of the south view!

Suzy the climate is very similar to Miami. The building I took the pics from is the tallest residential building in the world. Treanna it is not congested at this time of the year but during school holidays all the hotel rooms fill up and it is a lot more congested but there is always plenty of beach to go round.
