We are off to Lake Ullswater for a few days to do some walking and take in the scenery. Be back on Tuesday. Hope there's not much snow. I'll try to brink back photos. Have a good weekend gardenbuddies!

I am also hoping to see the pics of your trip. Already for a few years I do not go to Lake District and it has to be very nice in winter, with something of snow...

Yes, there certainly was snow, especially on the first day there. This is a view from our hotel window.
This is the hotel we stayed in, called Inn on the Lake. Wonderful food.
Photos of some of our walks. Hope you enjoy.

hi Jane glad you had a good time. The pictures are really nice. Ullswater is our favorite part of the lakes although it is all very nice,(well perhaps not Windermere and Ambleside).I have only tried that hotel for coffee but it was nice.

I lived in Ulverston for about 6 months when my ex husband worked nearby. Our son Owen was about a year old and I remember that time as being one of the happiest of my life. I would love to go back and visit, it is an incredibly beautiful region. Loved your photos Heather!

I am only now catching up with threads. Your post brings back fond memories of hiking in the Lake District with my best friend. I believe the youth hostel we stayed in was a big ole mansion on Lake Windemere. I think YHA Ambleside. Everyone was so friendly and I remember my shock at the breakfast being beans (a dinner food! LOL) and slightly cooked bacon. We had to be back by 10 pm b/c they locked the doors. Once, I jumped into the freezing cold lake on a dare (it was a Double Dog Dare, so I couldn't decline). Good times.

Just noticed some of these older posts. Thanks Sharon, Sue, Charlene and Kath. It's one of our favorite places to visit. Only takes us about an hour to drive it. Heavenly! Scotland is very beautiful as well, Kath. I love it.

Thanks Ann and Elizabeth. We are going again tomorrow for a few days but different part of the Lakes this time. We will be staying in Borrowdale, near Keswick. Another very beautiful spot for walking. Just hope the weather isn't too bad. It usually makes no difference to us though. We just wrap up and go out anyway. I love it!
