Magilenica Alba came to me via a fuchsia tip cutting from a member of FLAW when I went to Gardening Scotland in 2001.
And she has grown every year since and bloomed ever since.

But it is time she had a badly needed hairdo.
You can see by the last photo the thickness of the stem how old she is.

I do prune her right back in the spring.

But Kath if you look close enough if she was pruned right back apart from ahead at the top looks as if could make a ready made standard fuchsia.

I am starting to do this with genii have one growing in another part of the garden.

Sure thing Kath, would make a beauty of a standard, would need a lot of 'pinching' on the new growth to keep the head fairly compact

OOh that is a beauty Kath, Will you use the 'haircuts as starters'. wish I could get some of the 'haircuts, but I have to treat Fuchsias as an annual here, although I had some luck carrying over for this year, Will try agin.

Anything's possible
Seriously though, I would carry on cutting everything away except that main stem complete with it's side branches (of course they can be pruned back later), Then I would start digging approximately 2 foot away from that main stem, then gradually cut off unwanted stumps and roots. That is going to be a big job. Eventually, you could drive in a thick stake for support and also attach straps to gradually straighten it. I don't know how tall it is at the moment, but I'd top it back to 5ft if it's any taller. What do you think?
