at creating a little fuchsia tree.... Thanks to all the help and advice here last year I successfully wintered over most of my fuchsias. Just in case I didn't succeed I took a bunch of cuttings and they all did well so I decided to try my hand and creating a standard. This is the result. What a fun thing! This is 'Beacon Rosa' and really blooms its head off. I don't know the varietal name of the hanging variety I put in the bottom of the pot as it was a cutting from a friend a couple years ago.

Well done Deanne, that's very good for your first try. The other one growing in the pot looks like 'Constance', it is hardy here in zone 8, not a true trailer but what we call a lax-upright, also make a good hanging basket.

Kath, thanks for the ID on the 'Constance'. I googled it and it looks like you're 100% correct. I can't thank you enough for all your info last fall on overwinter care of my plants. People are amazed with my fuchsias this year and it is because I have some pretty large plants because they were from last year. You can't buy a fuchsia that size around here and most people don't know you can save them. I've planted them everywhere this year, in the gardens and containers and they are such a delight to me. I went a little crazy with cuttings last fall and had fifty new plants to put out this spring. I wound up giving quite a few away because I didn't have room for all of them. LOL Anyway, I'm hooked on these lovelies now and my DH is wondering if he'll have any room left in his shop this winter after I bring all the tenders in. DW, That little guy above is less than a year old. I think I took those cuttings the beginning of Oct. last year so it won't take as long as you think.

That looks very pretty indeed, Deanne! Kath, I neglected to thank you for the help you gave me. I followed your directions for overwintering my Fuchsias "in the green" and they have grown large and bushy this year. And are flowering their pretty heads off. I've never been so successful with Fuchsias before. So from me, too, many thanks!!
