Yes Arlene, I have 18 different varieties now. I like them because they flower from May right through the summer until the frosts come in Oct/Nov.

One more beautiful than the other! This just makes me envious again: they are only reliably hardy here with some winter protection.

I really envy you Kath (in a nice way) You can grow so many beautiful plants that I love but cannot have. You have presented them beautifully too, like pages from a Penstemon Journal
Now for a favourite - this will be hard :-)
Port Wine - Russian Bedder - White Bedder
I cannot choose between them.

Yes Carolyn I find it hard to choose one favourite, my two favourites are Osprey and Alice Hindley, I knew you would like that one Susan, when it first opens there is a hint of blue in the back of the throat, so to end here is Osprey

Very easy to grow Antonella, cuttings take very easily. Treat them a bit like hardy fuchsias during the winter period, don't cut them back until all risk of frost has gone the following Spring, and then only to 12 inches/25 cms.

I love Penstemons and am surprised that this forum is not a bit more active. There are quite a few Penstemons that are hardy and do well here in Colorado, but it almost looks as if there are more varieties available in Europe than in the US where they are native! I confess to being envious.

Those you posted are beautiful, Kath. I've not seen them offered in the USA; I will have to do a search!

Here is a very nice UK site about Penstemons: http://www.penstemania.co.uk/plantindex.htm I just "discovered" it but folks here are probably already familiar with it. Again, lots of cultivars are listed that I have never heard of, but I would love to have them. :-(

Thank you for the link Holly
Yes as you've gathered I love them too. A good book on the subject is 'The Gardener's Growing Guide to Growing Penstemons' by David Way and Peter James ISBN 0-7153-0550-6, maybe you could order it from your local library
