I loved the look of borage flowers that I saw in the seed catalogs, but never grew them before this year. They are large plants with big, fuzzy leaves. I winter sowed seeds and got these lovely flowers. Unfortunately, I have to almost lie on the ground to get any photos of their nodding blossoms!

Hi , those are very nice pics,! I have seeds also , but never got around yet to planting them. It's going to be a useful addition to my mixed garden,as I don't keep a special herb bed.I hopefully will remember to get some growing for next season!Bees love them. in gardening, }

I can just see you now on your back! :) You captured them wonderfully. Is the white one a loner? I've never seen that color on borage. I find them scattered around now and enjoy the glimpse of blue among other plants. They are very good self-seeders.

I am growing them in the garden bed too, not an herb bed. I'm hoping they re-seed. The bees do like them and I like the flowers, even if I never use the plant as an herb. The white flower is from borage 'Alba.' It has the same habit as the blue flowering ones, I believe. If I can collect seeds, I'll be happy to share if you are interested, David.

Marcia, from those healthy plants you will have no problem collecting lots of seed, with plenty left around to reseed! I would be very interested in the Alba. Thank you!

Love those shots! I have never had success with these. Did you know the flowers are edible? When I had a plant, we collected the flowers & put them in ice cubes. Pineapple sage flowers make a nice combination in ice cubes too. Yummm!

Hint for Borage - grow it at the top of a retaining wall or slope so you can see the flowers from below. Mine is happily self seeding in a semi-arid zone with no watering, which says a lot for it's toughness.Borage for Courage :)

Thanks for the hint, Greth. They do self seed--very well. I pulled out many seedlings and still have too many this year! This year's blue flowers.
The plant has an interesting symmetry when you do look down on it!

Marcia, I had a bumper crop of the white borage this year thanks to you. Very vigorous, very healthy plants. Now lets see this fall which -- white or blue -- dominates in the self-seeding category!
