Now I have a few questions! Yeah just like me to ask after the fact! But anyways, this is what I ordered: lemon basil, lime basil, lemon mint, lemon balm, lemon thyme, lemon catnip, lime balm. The company said these are all perennial, are they? In zone 3? I will get six of what's listed here, not all of these. So two won't show up. I just wanted to know if they are perrenial. The Farm grows them in Ohio winters. Just checking it out, either way, whatever can't stand our Maine winter will come inside and be taken care of. Just curious is all. Thanks!

Cathy,

All but the basil are perennials; basil is an annual (and tropical origin). However, the perennials are not likely all hardy to your zone. Lemon thyme is hardy to zone 4, Lemon balm to zone 4-5, lemon mint to zone 5, but the catnip is hardy to zone 3. All but the basil need very good drainage. If you have them near a south facing wall or well protected in the winter, you might squeeze a zone more of hardiness out of them.

Good choices! I have also "Lemon Verbena" (Aloysia triphylla). It makes a great tea. It's hardy only to zone 8.

Hi David, I had Lemon Verbena at our old house and it was the best plant! I hardly did anything to it but take the bigger leaves off when they started to fade. They smelled wonderful! Like Lemon Lollipops! I've been hunting for another all this spring, but still haven't found anywhere but online to order them or from a catalog. That was the next plant on my list to order! Can't have the lemon lime garden without that one!

Boomer, now you need to look out for the Lime Verbena - the scent is wonderful, the plant looks the same. Mine died during my last house move, it seems rare as hen's teeth. And I heard rumour of an orange scented one (sigh)
