Thought I would show you the herb garden in a little more detail now that things have flowered/filled out. Codonopsis. Such a pretty flower but hangs down so you have to get on your hands and knees to see it!
Fennel. Just love the foliage but self seeds rather too readily. Have to cut the seed heads off or I would have nothing but fennel.
Golden marjoram. The best for holding soil on a slope and sooo vigorous.
The biggest, fattest Lavender ever. This plant is over 10 years old but just loves its position up against the house wall. None of the others are anywhere near as fat.
Sweet Cicely. Great for shade and you can eat everything. Leaves flowers, seed pods and roots. Quite pretty too but another deep rooted herb like Fennel that self seeds too readily.

Oh, I love your favorites Moira! Beautiful pictures! Would love to have more space to grow bronze Fennel. It does not seem the right plant for a pot though. In my climate it can reach 2 meters tall easily. And your Lavender plant is really fat! So pretty! It has to be a ball of blooms in near future. Love your herb garden Moira!

Thanks Malgorzata. The lavender did look lovely in flower for about a week then we had (are still having!) non-stop torrential rain and everything in my herb garden and back garden is completely flattened and a lot of it is starting to rot.

Oh, Moira, that is terrible! Do you know when it might stop raining? Feel free to send it my way. I am about to have the opposite problem of everything frying to a crisp and blowing away. Even my weeds are dying!

Your herb garden is so beautiful. I hope it survives the rain. How is the Codonopsis? I read it was a little stinky. Is it that bad - worse than salvia?

I am sorry you guys are having the opposite problem to us. We had the driest and hottest Spring on record and now the wettest June since records began. The weather is just getting too wierd. My plants don't know what to do anymore. It looks like the rain may stop come Friday. Heres hoping. Thankyou Loretta. It still looks okish. My main problem is normally by now I start to harvest the herbs for drying. I won't get any Lavender this year as the heads are starting to turn black. As for the Codonopsis I suppose it is a bit wiffy but then I like strange smells (moth repellant, Jeyes fluid, petrol!) Salvia smells quite nice to me.

The rain might stop by Friday? Wow! Well, better late than NEVER, although it sounds like the damage has already been done. Like you said, here's hoping... :-)

Gorgeous pictures! Sorry for all that damaging rain =( Wish I had a little of it, we're having a pretty dry spell here too. We got a bit of rain last week, but just a bit and I'm still having to water almost daily. Fortunately, most of the plants I have are getting to the point where I can let them fend for themselves a bit more but I do still have some babies and newly transplanted things that will need a bit of TLC for a while longer. It's getting to where I can use a watering jug on certain plants rather than the hose on everything. Though if it doesn't rain I'll still have to do major watering once in a while.

I really like all your herbs. I wonder if the Golden Marjoram would be a good substitute for Creeping Jenny which I like but it spreads like crazy.

Depends how low growing you want it to be. The Marjoram does flower on leaf covered stems about a foot or so tall. I would post a picture as it is flowering now but I would get my camera wet cos its stilllll! raining. It doesn't spread quite as rapidly as Creeping Jenny but it isn't well behaved.
