I know how to get photos small enough using the pixel formula - but I don't know how to translate that to 100 kb. I'm taking a shot - but this is too small. if anyone can tell me what the pixel size (ie 640x480, etc) is for 100 kb, I'd appreciate it! Brenda

I don't think it quite works like that. It's more a matter of what's in the pic than what its dimensions are. If you'd like a big-dimensioned pic, but with small kb, you can either use a web site to optimize/compress the pic http://sitereportcard.com/imagereducer.php or use something like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro to compress it, or set your digital camera to use a lower resolution when taking photos.

Thank you Heirloom. I totally don't 'get it' but I'll try and understand it. You're a peach!

No problem. I don't know if this helps, and I could be way off on my explanation here, but the way I look at it is that photos with lots of colors take up a lot of kb. So you could have a small 100 pixel x 100 pixel picture with lots of colors that takes up more kb than a larger picture that is 200 pixel x 200 pixel with only three colors. That's why you can't really say "size Y by Y" will be a 100 kb picture and "size Z by Z" will be 200 kb. It depends on how complex the image in the photo is, not just on its physical dimensions. Here's something else you can look at for an explanation: http://www.howstuffworks.com/question408.htm
