Janet, can't wait to see your flowers this summer. I have been looking at the lilyauction past couple weeks. I want to get Palace Garden Beauty, and Victorian Lace. Bella Sera has been inside under lights since October, no signs of any new fans popping up yet. I have it in a 5 gallon pot. I was hoping this would increase my chances of more fans sooner.

Starting to get around to starting more seed. I took out a packet of Border Lord X Bella Sera out of the fridge yesterday (11 seeds), and today I already have 4 germinated. Also took out James Marsh X Bella Sera (3 seeds) Also trying Lavender White Eyes X unknown velvet red looking daylily, sitting in water, just to see what they do. Dip seeds never look good to me, always shriveled.

Planted Bella Sera outside today. I was hoping to see some baby fans popping up, but no luck. I needed to make room for seedlings and starting more seed. Well out of all the seeds I started above, just waiting on 2 seeds to germinate. Lavender White Eyes X unknown velvet red in a water soak worked very well, all 24 seeds germinated.

Similar tests here too! About 100 seedlings sown by end 2005, planted (too close too!) in the garden in June 2006. I do hope to get some flowers this year! They look so healthy!!!! Here they are a month ago, when I cleaned them up: since then, they have grown lots of new leaves..Can't wait either!!!

You are having great success, Guff. Congratulations! And Zephirine, you have some Herculean fans out there. I'm anxious to see the blooming results from all these seedlings.

My favourite so far (only 4 babies have opened a flower), 'Ruffled Masterwork' x 'Art Gallery Iridescence':
From this limited experience, I would tend to think that, as for roses, the "mother" tends to transmit the type of vegetation and the shape of the flower, while the "father" brings the colour and the (eventual) scent... Do you have a similar feeling with your own crosses?

Bella Sera, today. I had two other flowers a couple days ago, but being so cool here, the color wasn't very good. I have one seed pod forming(second flower that opened), I put Clothed In Glory on it. This flower I put Destined To See, which I tried on the very first flower that open, and it didn't take. Thought I would give it another try. Bella Sera has 2 more flower buds, but I won't be pollinating them.

How did everyone do with seed this year? I did ok. Mostly looking forward to the Destined To See crosses that I made. Should have something interesting in a few years.

Well hope everyone gets something nice in a few years. I still haven't seen any flowers from my first attempt growing from seed. I was looking back at past posts. Does my Clothed In Glory look like the real deal or TC? My Mildred Mitchell that I bought from the same seller hasn't flowered, and seems to grow very slow. My guess they are both TC. Both came with nursery tags with the picture of the flower. I will be sticking to the Lily Auction, always received nice fans. My Strawberry Fields Forever still hasn't flowered, and that also grows slow, bought that on EBAY. What I received was a pencil sized fan, guess the seller was mad at the selling price. I doubt it will flower this summer. I might be better off picking up another one this spring, same as with Mildred Mitchell.

I'm dying of envy. You guys must have way more gardening space available for all these babies than me. Will you keep them all? only keep the pretty ones? I put out about 50 + in my test garden this summer. Hoping for some blooms next year.
