I got a piece of this from a friend. It's been fascinating watching the buds developing. It's a beautiful purple too.

Looks like it could be campanula glomerata, if it is, it spreads far and wide so beware where you plant it.

I agree. Looks like C. glomerata to me too. I find it to be a bit raggedy in overall form so I never use it in my gardens. Plus in NJ we have the whole groundhog problem.

Looks like C. glomerata to me too.I don't think it spreads that badly in Maine, and there is often someone willing to take my passalongs after I get tired of trying extra pieces in new settings as I make them (how will this shade plant do in sun? or vice versa). I find some other varieties of camps much more toward the invasive side of the scale.} Marie

Thanks for your input Marie - I got my division from a friend's garden and I've not noticed it being invasive there (unlike the takesimana there which is a real thug!). I'm really enjoying it at the moment.
BTW, welcome to Gardenbuddies!

Welcome to GB's Marie. I wondered if the difference between my mild Oregon climate and Sue's harsher Maine climate would make a difference.
