Can anyone tell me if they have actually grown cup and saucer that comes with the saucer. I always pick up the cup and saucer variety at the local nursery and I never get the saucer attached. As you can see in my photo - I am missing the saucer part. And I have seen on pictures the flower does come with the saucer attached and I would like to grow this variety - if I can find it. Golden

I haven't grown it but I've seen it at a garden, so it does exist. Maybe you should try growing it from seed. I think sometimes the name cup and saucer is arbitrarily used for some campanulas.

Well the problem is - I dont have any where to actually hold it for a year until it actually flowers? I usually have my garden full of alot of annuals. But I was thinking maybe I could start it in lets say big pots to hold them over for a year until they are ready to be transplanted into my garden focal point where I always plant them. But I am not sure if that would work? Its just too bad they are bieannuals cause they are really pretty but it does make it more difficult for me. ( As you can see in the picture attached I mainly have annuals and where the marigolds are there - I usually plant cup and saucer. Does anyone know if I planted them now in buckets would they actually overwinter and actually last till next year that way???

Your garden is beautiful.
If you start them in pots, you could put them in the ground in the fall perhaps.
Anyway, have you ever looked at Paghat's Garden? Its a nice website that comes up often when searching. It mentions the difference between the Canterbury Bells.
You want Campanula medium var calycanthema, not just Campanula medium. There are three pages. I really like the Lilac Blue she(?)lists.

Well I will try that this year - I will start them from seeds in pots and once fall is here and I pull out my other annuals - I will plant them in there place - I just hope they will make it over winter. I know one year I did plant one from seed in the front garden not knowing it would not flower the first year and I had this very large cabbage looking thing. So I left it till the next year and it did take a beating over the winter with frost and snow and all - but If i remember correctly that was the best looking campanulas I have ever had. So I think your idea is a good one and I will give it a try - Thanks so very Much Loretta!! Golden

One more thing Loretta - thanks for the website tip. I tried googling Campanula and I did not come up with a site that actually gave me much for this variety that I was looking for so thanks for that also! And the funny thing is the variety that I have bought previously over the years always says CUP AND SAUCER and it is not correct. Except for the ONE year I started it from seed! And they were BEAUTIFUL! Golden

Well, it does seem they call the canterbury bells without the saucers - cup and saucer too so it is confusing. Anyway, I had a few seeds someone sent me and I am trying them as well - but what if they are the saucerless ones...hmmm...maybe I better get new seed.
