Hello all, I am new to the forum and am wondering if someone can help me identify this campanula. I bought two recently as "Bernice", which I had been wanting for ages. I was really dismayed when the flowers opened up yesterday. The inside is all speckled.

That is a nice plant though. I have Bernice and the flowers are on a stalk.

Did no one ID your plant yet? Perhaps if you post it on Identify this Plant Gallery. I'm sure you will get a response. Maybe a form of spotted bellflower - Campanula punctata? Did the stems of the flowers extend at all?

Nope, the stems didn't extend at all, I think you are right about the Punctata, the flower looks similar to the ones I found when I googled. I am very disappointed with the plants, I have been looking for a Berenice for ages and I find this flower quite ugly. Thanks for your interest :-)

I'm sorry though I still like it. It reminded me in habit of glaucidium. The leaf looks the same as C. punctata far as I can tell though I really didn't have a clear look. The fact that there are no stems makes me think I am wrong about the species. Even the dwarf form I came across had a little stem. If you post it on the other forum, Carol might have a go at it. She's very good.

Thanks for the idea, I will wait for it to get another flower, and take another pic, perhaps it might grow stalks as it gets older.
