Hello, this looks like an interesting forum.... hope the regulars don't mind if I join in!

If I may suggest it, Campanula trachelium would fit the bill - it's very tall and upright, and does not spread from the roots. (Also hardy to at least zone 3, if that is of interest to anyone out there.)

Hello, Abgardeneer. I'm also jumping in. It's a long time since I registered but signed up for notifications of postings on this subject as I fancy myself a collector of Campanulas. So when I saw that you were also from Alberta Zone 3, I thought that I would welcome you. Do you have several Campanula varieties as well? I have about 30 different types and colors and am always looking for more.

Traceym, so as to not get too far off your topic, probably the tallest ones that I have besides the one mentioned above are C. 'Kent Belle', C. 'Sarastro', C. persicifolias, and a few varieties that I started from seed that I haven't seen sold as live plants (C. latifolia 'Brantwood' and C. pyramidalis). This last one may be more biennial as some of mine that bloomed last year didn't come back this year and Brantwood is only in it's second year so we'll see.

Hi, Bellflower,
So as not to highjack this thread too much, how's about we adjourn to another thread to discuss our campanulas further? I'll start one up and call it "Campanula trials in Zone 3" - meet you there!
