Just thought I'd share this pic since I had a bloom! I keep this Hibiscus plant indoors since I'm in Zone 5 and it does well.

Yes, I sit it outside each summer and it really grows then. I prune it in the fall so I can bring it inside, or if I see a limb getting too big during the summer months, I cut it back. Then I just root those clippings and give them away. This one I have was started off of the original Hibiscus plant that was my great grandmother's, which my grandmother has now. My great grandmother brought it from Florida originally.

I've been propagating a big double pink one for over 30 years. I give them away when they get too big, usually around 15 to 18 years old. There are always 'babies' coming along.
I prune mine in the Spring when they go outside. They look a little sad by April/May with few leaves.
Pretty flower, Alicia.

Thanks, Andy. Sorry, but I've been quite busy and never got to respond to your post. I just love Hibiscuses. What type do you have that gets the big double pink flowers? I usually take cuttings from this one for people too! Mine really takes off whjen I sit it outside during the summer months. Being in PA, Zone 5, I have no choice.

Alicia, Mine is called Kona. I only found out the name last year.

Not a very clear shot but you get the idea.

Hi Andy. That is gorgeous!! I wish I knew the name of mine. I just know that it's a clipping off the original plant that my great grandmother brought back from Florida years ago and now my grandmother has the plant and starts new ones from it. I've started a couple myself just off of the plant I've grown. :) Your picture is just beautiful!
