Today I planted a new bed that has been slow taking off! I decided I needed an area to plant all those things that collected on my potting bench and in the garage. There were quite a few ornamental grasses, so DH said he'd like a "wild bed". Here is how it looks with the sprinkler on. Not very exciting you might think, but I am eager to see how all the grasses, perennials and bulbs look next season with my new "pet rock"! I think it will take 2-3 years to mature, but I'll enjoy the anticipation over the winter months.

It will be nice to follow the progress of your pet bed, Marie.

Very pretty! I love those big 'personality plus' boulders too. :) We added two this summer. :)

Great to see an update! What's the burgandy flower? I have been wondering..how did the clematis do this year on your new arbors? :-)

The burgundy blooms are Angelica gigas. They are biennial, but I've saved a few seeds, hoping to have more in 2 years. A few of the clematis were great, but mostly they were weak in their second year. We were away (for great reasons...DD's new house, then her new baby!) so the drought had its effect on many things, not just the clematis. It's been a tough summer in the garden. Nothing bothered the weeds though...

OMG what a transformation!! That is awesome. Well I have to say, it gives me hope for some of my beds that are slow taking off and seem like they'll never fill in, but hopefully mine will go BAM like yours did!
