Hi, This is my first time to post anything. I have some good pics but need to be sized down to upload here. Anyway....I live in the southern most part of southern California, Coronado Island--I would like any advice on what to plant this time of year. We have mild winters, no frosts. Flower bed has morning and early afternnon sun, with some sporatic shade..mostly sunny. I may not even be in the correct forum for such a question if so please forgive my ignorance. Thank you very much!! Nan

hya Nursey and welcome to GB I wouldn't dare advise you on what to plant seeing as I am on the other side of the planet but I am sure you will soon get some replies. In the meantime why not go to the Social Gallery and introduce yourself so everyone can say hello

Nancy welcome to GB. I just read your little bio and it doesn't seem like you are doing well in your garden. As for what to plant now, see what your garden centers are selling in your area and use that as a guide.

Hi Nurse Nan: Welcome to Gardenbuddies from Northern Wisconsin---where it's usually gorgeous and we have snow most of the year. I'm kidding!! Yes, please go to the Social Gallery and introduce yourself. We have Southern Californians here (too bad Wanda doesn't post much anymore). She has incredible knowledge of the native Calif. plants and turned her front yard into a wonderful garden of plants that thrive in her climate. (And our webmaster EJ, has a Heavenly California garden too)!

Thank you, thank you...for saying hello! I will go to the Social Gallery, as you advised. I'm working on uploading a few pics of mine which are amazing (my camera gets the credit). I can say that the nursery where I've been buying all my flowers, has everything...with our weather the way it is, the flowers can't decide what season it is.. So pretty much anything that likes sun and moderate temp grows well (or at least they do at the Garden Center ). I'm so happy I found this website!! Nan

Hi Nan, I grew up in the bay area where everything grows as well. So moving to Idaho was a new challenge. My Aunt lived in Pasadena on a sandy hill, and that is one place that didn't grow plants very well. Gardenias did great though. Otherwise, you have a place to grow so many plants, that it should be fun! My niece lives in Santee, are you close to there? I haven't been there to visit yet. But have been to San Diego a few times and for my niece's wedding a while back. I think I love how you can grow many types of tropical plants. And watergardening and koikeeping is a favorite of mine.

I see in your bio where it says the blue ribbon finds its way to your door every year now. How wonderful! Show us some photos when you get a chance. Gardening is my own "addiction of choice" and, as addictions go, I think it's a pretty good one. We're so glad to have you here.
