Hello all! I have recently joined gardenbuddies and I am enjoying it immensely. I have learned so much in such a short time I think my brain is going to pop! I get sucked in here for hours reading and viewing all of the gorgeous gardens of everyone here. I am feeling very motivated to get started on my own. As of now I only have a few things Im enjoying growing. My question....where is the best (aka cheapest most reasonable) place to buy new seeds, cuttings, seedlings, bulbs etc. ??? I am an ebayer but it seems the shipping there can be quite crazy. I was wondering if there are some websites or catalogs that you all frequent and have been pleased with using.

I've been happy with Bluestone Perennials online and Dutch Gardens for Spring bulbs. I've also ordered through Ebay and have always had good results and nice plants. I've gotten quite a few plants from friends/family who are thinning out their plants.

Another option is to search for gardening societies in your area. They hold spring plant sales where you can get good deals on a variety of plants.

My favorite seed source is Fedco. They have a wide variety of seeds, trees, bulbs, tubers, etc. They are inexpensive and support organic and small farms. They aren't a glitzy company, but their printed catalog is fabulous (IMO). http://www.fedcoseeds.com

Also for seeds, there are several active exchanges on the web. If you buy a few packs yourself or collect some, (better something less common), you can really multiply your selection by dividing up the seeds in the pack. Go for packs that hold 100 or more seeds. People usually expect 25 seeds for a trade. There are exceptions, hard to get seed or expensive seed, but then you should say so.

Wiegala is hardy to Zone 4, full sun. I have a small start I planted 3 summers ago, it should get to a good size this summer, and maybe bloom....
