Im trying to grow a number of alliums(Globemaster Christophii & Purple Sensation)from seeds which I have harvested from this years plants. what conditions do they need to be successful soil, location, time of year etc etc? Oh ditto for Agapanthus?

I love that site! Also, I think that Horticulture magazine had a recent issue on someone hooked on Alliums. Maybe you can get your hands on a copy or access it from the internet.

David I have never tried them from seed so cannot help you as far as germination/planting time goes but I have grown Alliums from bulbs and Agapanthus plants. Both require very free draining soil and bright sunshine especially the agapanthus. They should also be planted in a sheltered position and benefit from a mulch of straw or similar in the Winter.
