This is my new favorite rose for the moment.Honey Perfume...It does smell like sweet honey.:) I have had a good 3 hours of deadheading. Didn't finish ......tomorrow is another day....Also cut buckets full of flowers to give to friends. The garden is just so full right now.I need to thin some things out..Just don't want to right now. It's enough just keeping up with the deadheading for now. Beauty of a day....85 with a slight breeze..........:) |

Just in from more deadheading, good breeze blowing today, it was cloudy most of the day, cleared about 2 PM... Yesterday has a sweet surprise, a friend from Yoga came by to see the garden. It was a good visit, I sent her home with many cuttings and loads of fresh flowers. She fell in love with the yellow Brugmansia, we potted up some for her to take home. The Calif. poppies are fading fast and have set seeds, must get them out before the seed ripen or I will have nothing but Calif. poppies in the garden next year. I do throw the seed along the road so as not to have it go to waste. |

Just in from deadheading the upper garden roses, the rest will have to wait. Maybe get to them later this afternoon, Got the soaker hoses running the breeze we have going is drying things out rather quickly.. I swear it felt like I was out there for a half a day, it was only an hour and a half.Hummmmmm With the warmer weather now, the hundreds of Iris blooms are fading fast, in fact most are gone now. I sure was pretty while it lasted.. Some of the lighter roses are frying too as the need to acclimate to the heat. |

I started the soaker hoses at 4:45 Am this morning. It got up to 101 here in the garden yesterday, Suppose to be cooler today 99......The roses are now pretty much all fried. The Iris are Bye-bye... They are calling for the Marine layer to come back in off the ocean Tomorrow. So possibly while I am gone this weekend things will be OK.I will need to get every thing watered in well. Sounds funny, but I am going up to central California to go to some garden tours, will probably come back to mine and it will be fried.....:) I am hoping the garden will acclimate to this weather in the next few days. The tomatoes are doing well in the heat.....:)

Well I finally found out how and why the bird baths were getting dirty, stinky and slimmy...Its the crow's. They catch mice, bring to the Bird baths and eat them as to feed their young. It is so gross..........That is way there was fur and tails in this nasty mess at the bird baths.. Since I am the only one it seems in this neighborhood with bird baths I am the lucky one that gets to deal with this. The 'babies' these mother crows are feeding are as big as they are. I found this out when I spent all day out in the garden watering and deadheading........ What is so sad to me, is the crows have run off all my pretty little birds that come to the Bird Baths. The weather is cooler, it is bearable again... I just hope the crows will move on and take the young with them. I will be gone for 5 days with any luck the crows will move on and the little birds will come back..... I hope!!!! |

Had a wonderful time on my little trip. Seen some wonderful gardens, The weather was warm, so we started early. Just a good time.I did not take one photo, I was so enjoying all I was seeing I didn't bother with photos. Came home to a very dry garden, all the roses were fried. The Fox glove looked so sad all bent over from the lack of water. The person that was suppose to water had a problem and could not come to water for me. Once I get every thing deadheaded again, it will be OK with watering.. I have the soaker hoses going as I write this. Some how for some reason the Peony did fine?????? I can not think why it did. It still has a few more buds on it to open.:) I am not even going to question it..........Just enjoy.......:) So much to read to catch up with on Gardenbuddies. I won't have that much time , I did peek at the May mag. Loved all the articles....There is so much talent here at GB....:) We are so lucky.... I am still having major computer problems. This I will have to deal with now that I am back...Oh goodness where to start...... First get the garden watered.....Little steps......!!!!! |

I have caught up on the deadheading........Now to start over..:) Every thing is watered, for a day or so. The weeds are another story... But for today it all looks like a garden again.:) I am sort of 'happy' tired. The toads have settled in nicely, seem to be happy in the hollow log... I just hope the raccoons don't find them. Weather is suppose to cool and go back into the May/June gloom..It's that kind of weather where you have to layer your clothing as you go from cold to hot to cool to warm to cold in a matter of a day every day. So fun!

I just took my walk in the garden, I have to say, I am so amazed at how much the Clematis have grown, they are just so much more this season. Now you can really see them....For the first time last evening when some friends stopped by we were looking around the garden, was the first time I had some one stop dead in their track and go "Oh my God what it that beautiful flower" It was 'Henryi'...It is a sight to behold..... I do believe I have started someone on the path to Clematis growing...... What a great feeling.......;) I do love them, just for what they add to the garden,. I can not honestly say I need to know every thing there is to know about them. All of mine are pretty common, or at least what I can find here local....Not much of a selection, but then I have not really gone nutty about finding them.Maybe I will:):) I never know.....:):) |

Overcast this morning, the marine layer has come back. So starts the May/June gloom period. My Mothers day turned out so wonderful, I know I cried an ocean of happy tears. My Son David showed up in the afternoon, with a brand new state of the art computer for me.I was stunned to say the least. He had said he would come see if he could fix the one I had.He said he decide to just get me a new one and take the other one back. I am one Happy Momma that is for sure.:):) Today is a day of deadheading, it was hot yesterday so it does need deadheading. I cut so many flowers yesterday, you would think there would be less to do, just doesn't work that way.:):) But there was a many happy Ladies yesterday they loved the flowers. Makes me so happy.;) |

Deadheading is the word here for this garden, A lot of deadheading. The garden is a sea of blooms. I am trying to take a section at a time ~ it is hard to do, as I go to get something and the next thing I know I am pulling weeds at the other end of the garden. The Epiphyllum's are blooming, There is an orange one that is *knock your socks* off beautiful..I have photoed it twice and still can't get it right. Will have to work on that. Today is more weeding and deadheading. Just a lot of maintenance for this garden for now. Yet it is a joy. The Clematis are so pretty. There are a couple I need to cut back to get another bloom on them. What a wonderful compliment they make in the garden.:) |

Weeded, most of the day. Have plenty more to do. I am tired, it isn't even a happy tired, it just plain tired. The roses are getting the second go round, going to be a nice bloom. Just a few more beds to deadhead. The teenage girl from up the hill asked if she could help me in the garden for credit at school, I said sure.Showed her how to deadhead.Well.those roses will take a little longer to come back to bloom.:):) She didn't quite 'get it'....But really no harm done..:) |
