Thanks FF aka Lisa I just wanted to get on paper why I love this garden so much. Every time I am there I witness nature doing its thing, something a lot of people miss because they just don't have the time to pause and take a moment.
I don't think I am really cut out for writing a book. My hubby thinks I should blog but I wouldn't have the time to keep it regular enough and my life is just too boring most of the time. (read my housework days!)
I am just chuffed that both you and DJ liked my little story. It was such a perfect day.

Changing the subject COMPLETELY! Did you notice someone has squished me back in? Thankyou, thankyou, whoever you are. I was getting so fed up with having to scroll across to read what I had written. Personally I would have banned myself fromn this forum for posting in such an annoying fashion LOL! please don't take that as a hint. I really like it here.

I know the feeling. It is nice to just embrace the moment & forget everything else going on. I have been doing that more & more these days & I am enjoying every minute of it :)

Now, what is with the small font?? You & DJ must know about something the rest of us don't! lol

HAHA! I have no idea why. It just seemed to be the right thing to do like being serious for a minute or something.

Out for the Christmas works do last night. Something neither of us have done in 4/5 years. Hubby because he is his company so if he had a works do that would be him and his wife (me).
I have not been to a works do in years because the nursery I managed was a small independent and we were 7 in total. The Christmas "do" was to go round my bosses house for drinks one evening.
My hubby is working at a warehouse for a few months as his business goes very quiet in the Winter. Who wants camping gear and awnings in December?! There are no VW shows either. The warehouse is owned by one of his fellow VW traders and hubby agreed to do a bit of work there in exchange for having a go in a 12 wheeler (big truck!) and being allowed to use the forklift. Big boys toys LOL!
Having worked there for 2 months both of us were invited for a free Christmas meal and free drinks all night. How lovely is that? They are a really nice bunch too. Very easy to chat to. On our table there was a Polish couple and she (Justina) was just so funny. She had us in fits with her comments in broken English about the food we British eat at Christmas. I asked her what was their main dish. Did they eat turkey too? No, they have 12 courses and the main course is fish. "What type of fish?" I asked.
"I don't know how you say in English. Is big fish. Not sea, not river but big water."
"Ummm lake?" I suggested.
"Yes, yes, is lake but too hard to say how it look and what you call it in English." She said.
"Carp?" I asked.
"YES!!" she shouted "How you know Polish name for this fish?"
HAHA!! Everyone on our table and the next burst out laughing. It took her a few seconds to realise that we too call a carp a carp and I wasn't fluent in Polish.

Lazy start to the morning, a rarity in this house, but for once neither kids had to be at rugby, football, picked up from somewhere, dropped off somewhere and neither of us had to be anywhere before 11am.

We have one Godchild. He is a 6 yr old rascal but adorable and a little miracle. Both he and his mum nearly died when he was born. Somehow they both managed to pull through although his mother still has problems with her blood. Something went on during the pregnancy that caused her blood to clot but in a very strange way. They cannot give her anti-coagulants as then her blood becomes too thin and the slightest cut could mean she will bleed to death. This nearly happened when she was giving birth. Not long after having recovered she went for a check up and they told her that a clot had developed in her chest. They could not give her thinners and she spent the most terrifying night in the hospital not knowing if it would move before the op she was to have the following morning. This involved putting a little umbrella in above the clot to stop it going into her heart Once in place the clot could be left to dissolve of its own accord without causing any damage.

This morning we went to watch our Godson play rugby as he was playing against our town and playing here. Too funny to watch. At this young age it is as much as they can do to catch the ball and run in the right direction. They have to play tag rugby (not allowed to tackle) which basically means they have 2 velcro strips attached to the side of their shorts that the opposition have to pull off instead of tackling. One boy cried because someone pulled his tag off another because he didn't get the ball and a third because he fell over. I don't think he hurt himself it was more the indignity of it. By the time they had finished the match there were no more than 5 players left on the pitch.
We all came back to our house and after he had had his shower and we had all had some lunch we went off to choose our Christmas trees.

Ooooh, it looks like you had a wonderful day yesterday. So relaxing, and to get to spend it with friends... just perfect! I hope you will share a pic of your tree once you get it decorated.
Growit Posted on Monday, December 17, 2007 - 08:51 am:   Last Buddysize PhotosPrint Post

I promise DJ. One of our family traditions is the day the kids break up from school is the day it gets decorated. That is this Wednesday.
When they were younger I let them do the tree by themselves but then had to redo it because everything was hung in one big clump at the bottom! HAHA!

Sounds familiar. HAHAHA! I let my son help me decorate the big tree. He dangles ornaments from the ladder on his Hess firetruck, backs it up to the tree, and unloads the ornaments onto the bottom tier of branches. Lots of balls and icicles all clumped together, which I then quietly spread about when he isn't looking. LOL.

What a great tradition Moira. Sounds like a lot of fun! I know what you & DJ mean about having to go back & "fix" the tree decorations. My brother used to have to do that after the rest of my brothers & sisters & I didn't do a good enough job to suit his liking! (My brother was furious the year my mom let the rest of us put icicles on the tree. He doesn't like them. I only asked my mom if we could put them on there b/c he didn' want them on it & I wanted to get back at him for being so picky & not letting the kids have fun)! lol

Lisa how many of you are there? (It is so annoying I have no email at the moment as I would love to ask you lots of questions.) Siblings I mean. Was he your oldest brother? and older than the rest of you? I have an older brother (I am 1 Of 4) he was the same at Christmas. Had to be in charge until he got to the later teenage years when Christmas was "so uncool." Only then did we get free reign HAHA!
Flowerfreak Posted on Monday, December 17, 2007 - 04:56 pm:   Last Buddysize PhotosPrint Post

7 kids total. Yes, he was (and still is, lol) my oldest brother. There are 4 older than me (3 sis & 1 bro), then I have 2 younger brothers.
My oldest brother STILL decorates the tree for my mom every year--to his liking. That suits me just fine though since I don't really have the time to do it even if I wanted to. My brother even goes & picks the tree out himself every year...if anyone else picked it out, I'm sure he would find something wrong with it.

Too funny! I wonder what it is about the trees that they have to be just so?

Boys get to a point when they think Christmas is uncool?

Oh dear. Not really but sort of. They must not be seen to be enjoying Christmas although really they do. My two now act like everything is no big deal and they don't care if I do the advent calendar, get a tree, put lights up outside etc. but I know they do and they are the first to point out if I don't do something. At the tender age of 17 my older one will still jump into our bed Christmas morning with stupid light up santas on his head and 'ooh and aahh' over all the silly things in his stocking. Then nod off after drinking a glass of bucks fizz before any breakfast. That was how we used to get on in the morning when they were little, get them drunk and leave them to sleep it off LOL!!

Wow! Thats a lot of competition Lisa. Did that mean lots of hand me downs? I was the oldest sister so my poor little sis got all my rubbish.

Haha! Is he not old enough to go find a wife and get his own tree to decorate? Good thing your mum don't mind I guess.

Moira, I love your tree! That is so pretty and fluffy. For that matter, I love your shocking blue wall, too. Wow, my Cockatoo would go ape over your tree. It is so 'Tooish. HAHAHA!! I'd love to put one like that in the Polly Parlor, but it would be destroyed the moment I walked out the door. LOL.
