May 3,2005 Has it really almost been two months since my last entry..grrrrr...so mad at myself..BUT, I have been very very busy in my Garden and such a naughty girl...Planted tons of bulbs and even more roses....just Love "Angel Face"
I enlarged the Beds around the fruit trees and Crepe Myrtle and have already planted all the new Daylilys I got from the Co-op and some Oriental Lilys and Tuberose..I have so much more to plant...It will look nice once it matures
Almost all the Daylilys that I planted in my Garden last fall are full of scapes and blooms...Here's one called "Navajo Princess"
and with my "Pookies" are these
I also love My new Clematis..I have now planted 40 Clematis and premeditatively ordered "Ruutel" ...from Debbie...this has to be my favorite shot of "Claire De Lune"..isn't she romantic in the shadows?
The latest to add to my Garden in Clematis are "Claire De Lune","Rhapsody","Multi-BLue", and "Daniel Deronda".. I will try dear diary to get back and write more often but I have just had too much fun playing in the dirt!!..Tee hee..Oh and yea..I felt so honoured that GB showcased my Garden last month..was a thrill..till next time!!! |

Dear Jeanne Thank you so much for your really prompt reply. I feel like I have just entered some exclusive club - worldwide, gardening crazy, massively interesting and most importantly, very kind and caring fellow members. Ive just read your diary - and can almost feel your joy when seeing those little clematis shoots!! Also I hope things improved with your sister. Family can be a real pain sometimes, its as if they can speak to you like they would never speak to other people. I loved your photos - would you believe we've got a digital camera, but cant find the lead to connect it to the computer - I suspect my son has got it somewhere!! Thwarted yet again!! By the way, why does you husband clean fish????? |

Hi Penny...to clean fish in Texas terms ..means to remove the scales and debone them so you can cook them..We live on the lake so fishing is something we do all the time!!...Glad you joined GB.. July 9,2005.. As usual, I have neglected my poor Diary..been so busy with life and gardening!!..I think my Peach Tree died...we dug it up and washed off the roots and repotted it in a big pot...will it come back?..I don't think so but letting Gary try...The overplanting of the garden this year has proved to have given it a very mature look... check out this corner!!
Believe it or not there really is a loquat Tree behind the Birdbath!! My Clematis have been one of the biggest joys to me this year...thank you Debbie..for you grow the most beautiful Clematis I have even seen and I am glad you have come into my life as a friend as well!!..Check out Clematis "Blue Belle" It has eaten up this Rose Arbor and believe it or not I have a Jasmine planted there as well but the Clematis has covered it and has zillions of buds and starting to bloom!!
Here is one of the blooms...it is true to colour...deep purple and the anthers are dark purple as well with creamy yellow tips
Here is Clematis "Comtesse De Bouchard on her second round of blooming..love the vigor of this vine a must have in anyones gardens
Here are My Cleome "Four Queens" that I grew from seeds this year..just tossing them out in my garden..My gardenbuddy Steve in Dallas sent them to me...Thanks Steve

Continued July 9,2005 So much to share!!!..I planted Clematis "Teshio" a month ago and it really has shot up..Debbie picked it up for me from Joycreek when she went to a seminar there and also got my Clematis Book autographed ..thanks Debbie..she really knows a great Clematis in the pot when she sees one..it has huge stems and such perky leaves..when I took it out of the pot the roots were super!!.. I planted several Zephyranthes this Spring and some have bloomed..such a sweet flower..also known as Rain lilys...
Check out this Crinum that a GardenBuddy shared with me last fall..love this and so unusual!!
Here is a new Plumeria I added to my Garden this year..it smells so sweet and so gorgeous!!
This is something else that I have never grown that is an Annual here..love these Alstroemeria aka Peruvian Lilys
I am keeping my fingers crossed that my new design for the garden will come to fruition..The gardener knocked off the wrought iron gate trying to get his big lawnmower into the backyard and had to bring his friend out to weld it back on...while he was here Gary said give him your design and let him bid a price on it..I asked him to give me a really good "cheap" price..LOL..it will mean I can add 8 new Roses and Clematis to my Gardens and give some shade..will be stunning!!..Oh pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee.....Jeanne

January 18th 2006 Thanks Linda for stopping by and viewing my journal and saying hello..You have truly been missed as well..Wishing your son the best!! Well Diary the month of January is over half way through and I have neglected you..shame on me...I started the new year with the flu...First cold I have had in 6 years so I shan't complain..let me see?? Santa brought me tons of things for gardening..so I assume "he" is pleased with my endeavors and wants to be an Enabler..LOL...Might take the arbor back and get a wrought iron one..Not sure if the white resin one will look good...I want to make a walkway of stones from the sidewalk around to the back yard using this arbor on the hill and create steps going down and lead around..Not much planned for the garden this year..been perusing my catalogues that have come in and really want to focus on my shade garden..would like MORE color and some Perennials there..I have the two new Hydrangeas to get in and of course want to give my 3 new Angel Trumpets a permanent home..top dress with cowmanure and prune my clematis..don't think the Peach Tree made it...will consider buying a HUGE one for this year and get it planted....Other than that just trying to stay on top of stuff...Oh, And of course Jain sent me some gorgeous Iris which I look forward to see bloom..they have really grown over the winter..Must take a pic and send to her to show her..she is so precious to have shared them with me..I feel so honored to have something of hers growing in my gardens..Now ever time I see them I will think of her...Would love to have a garden like hers she is my hero..LOL...Jeanne |

I can't believe the month of January is almost over!!..This has been a very weird winter..or lack up...altho, we generally have a mild one this was milder than mild...never brought in my Mandevilla and they are budding!!I have some strange bulb coming up in the front flowerbed that I have no idea what they are...***I don't remember planting anything there!!** The foliage looks like daffs BUT I wouldn't plant daffs there..it gets too wet!! anywho..My roses are blooming like crazy ...I need to get out there and give them their spring haircut..know they ain't gonna like it since they think they can just keep on keeping on but it's for their own good!!..I have a dilemma!!..These are the Clematis I want to order from Debbie:(Must put them here incase I lose my piece of paper!) Odoriba Hakuree Petite Faucon Violet Elizabeth Walter Pennell Florida Sieboldii John Huxtable or Huldine (thinking JH) Pink Champagne Recta Purperea Jackmanii Avante-Garde Now the Dilemma?..Where in the heck to I put them???? I am putting in the new Rose Arbor and planting Tess of the d'Urbervilles on each side and seriously considering companioning her with Violet Elizabeth on one side and John Huxtable on the other..So that takes care of those two!!.. Since Hakuree,Odoriba and Petite Faucon are non clingers thought I would plant them in front of existing clematis to sprawl through the flowers?? OK the Biggie..and Dh ain't gonna like this BUT I am considering digging up the grass in a Longgggggggggg flowerbed partitioning off our property from Larry and Planting clematis all the way down...AND...I have a sneaky feeling that DH is going to order a couple of obelisk or something from Debbie..heard him give her his email address and said it's to do with my birthday...wonder if I can get dirtdiggin' woman to spill da beans?..Nahhhhh...but what if he orders something I don't like???..Nahhhhh ...she knows what I like..hmmm..another Dilemma!!..anywho..dearest Journal thought I would pop-in and put my thought to keyboard..doesn't that sound strange..thought to pen...Oh yea..I am also considering building a long raised bed between me and the other neighbor..that could hold some more Roses and clematis!!..gezzz..that man is gonna divorce me for sure..catch ya next month...Jeanne |
