I dont like the dark winter nights prefer lighter evenings when you can get into the garden and go for long walks.
One thing for sure at this time of the year all gardens look much alike .
Last week I still had hardy fuchsias in bloom and still looking lovely but as the frost got harder my lovely fuchsias no longer looking cheerful.
Shall leave them untill Springtime when they get their anual haircut.A long rest in front of them

Sun starting to rise Christmas Day morning a white christmas was lovely to waken to a white christmas although not so good for anyone travelling on the day as roads were very slippy.
Next photo was taken morning of boxing day when we went for a much needed long walk to get some exercise.
This is the cricket pavillion which is also the local camera obscura.
On a clear day you can see a mountain range about 60 miles away.
We are very lucky to have this on our doorstep so close walking distance
This now lunchtiem 28th Dec ans temps are milder snow is now slush and melting.
Nice on the day xmas card scene.
At this time of the year all our gardens looks the same .

11th May 2005 what a complete change in the weather today ,started of with a very early ground frost which changed in to a lovely hot sunny yesday sun has just gone down for the day.
In the morning I repotted a lot of my fuchsias gave them a feed .
Then continued tidying my summer tubs.
Had an enjoyable afternoon with my frien dhad a trip to two garden nurseries and I bought 8 new plants to pot up my MIL summer trough.
I used two Autumn colour oxalis ,varigated geranium in the centre ,two ivy geraniums at side blue sybil, a lemon viola and a lilac viola and two cuphea hyssopifolia pink .
I shall keep it in my greenhouse well fed an dwatered untill end of May when I will then pass up to my MIL to get the pleasure in her garden.

My son has planted potatoes in tubs as we do not have room for a veg plot in our garden.

A lovely sunny day today started cool in the morning but changed and stayed warm all afternoon and was still a pleasure in the evening.
This morning I made a start to pot up into tubs spring flowering bulbs which I lifted to dry this yr when they had finished blooming .
Soon be time to bury my fuchsias once the season soon ends.
Think it will be a good idea to keep a record of my named fuchsias with a photo of the trench in my journal of how many fuchsias and which fuchsia I have buried and in 2006 when I dig them up can see which have survived the winter.

26th May 2006 and it has for weeks certainly not gardening weather so fed up of this cold and wet.

Well where do I start this time last year my dear dad was still alive and Mum although in her own wee world of the dredid demenia but her health was ok.

But weeks then changed with my Dads health we mananaged to go on holiday the second wk of our holiday his health started to go down.

We were only home a week when he got admitted to hospital this was the last time I was to spend in my garden.

As time on hospital visits changing seasons as summer went then came Autumn then followed by a sad Xmas was spent hospital visit again.Although it was lovely to see Mum &Dad were together again for their last Xmas lunch it really was lovley you could see them so both in love and happy.

Then came cold winter a little bit of seasonal weather came but Dad health had changed he was very week and frail as he needed blood transfusions.

I lost all interest in my garden where I got and spent a lot of pleasure.
Here I am nearly taking that time in the garden the pleasure is slow to come back as a lot of plants poorly to the weather and also a wee bit neglect.

Hopefully they will perk up again and smile to me.
My dads garden was and still is a special place and a beautiful garden and this year his was the best this Rhodendrums had bloomed as he took most of them from his old house and we replanted them 11 yrs ago so they are specail to me an tell a story of the first time Dad planted them when he had his helth.

His house has been sold new owners move in 16th June I do so hope they keep this wonderful garden that gives not just me pleasure neighbours as well.

1yr ago I took a cutting of one of Dads Rhodendrums and planted it under my Mahonia bush and yes she rooted I was so thrilled as Dad saw it rooted she is in my garden very proud but still a baby will give tlc.

I also planted one of Dads new rhod he bought two yrs ago I got one for a keepsake and my brother s wife got an azealea. In our gardens of also lasting memory.

I have taken a few more cuttings so lets see.
I am presenting the bowling club Dad and Mum were members with a garden bench with their names on 17th June think this fitting after keys handed over same day shall scatter ashes in memory and plant an Rhodendrum at the bowling garden.

Its been a long time but I was not ready to do this still not ready but it has to be done.

Then I will be ready to potter again in my garden .
Also taken up my Red Cross Theraputic Care again but in the hospital ward where both my parents spent their last days.
Some people think I am crazy but I feel this special presence around me when I am there that there spirit is with me for ever.

I will be back again with photos of my garden when the rain does evenually stop.

10th Oct 2006 Here I am again Dear Journal this has been some year first the death of my Mums her youngest sister their were 4 daughters two older and two younger being my Dear Mam and her little sister.

Feb then my Dear Dad the last year of his wonderful life he was in severe pain.He passed away too.

That was real hard for me.Did not expect my Mum to go so quick but the lovley thing she died of a broken heart in the end her love of her life had gone and she wanted to be with him.

A wonderful memory for me.

I would do anything for my loving dad but the one thing I could not do was make the pain go.

So really my garden has not been too good this yr as I really did not have the time or the energy.
We went on our holiday of a lifetime and toured Grand canyon seen such a lot and relaxed totally I was so happy and have left part of my heart like the song left my heart in San Fransisco a beautiful city although when we were there it was foggy and cool or rather cold.

We have got a lovely photo of the Golden Gate Bridge but sky was not blue that day dare I say grey.

Just a week back my Dear big brother passed away at the age of 58.He had Motore neurone for 2and half yrs it was slow then changed to rapid.

Today I felt like going out to my garden for a short time as weather here can now feel a chill in the air.

Think there may have been a slight frost this morning.

Now I want to get back in to my garden or even do a bit of volunteer garden work.

Its a day and blue blue sky think I may take camera with me when I go for a walk .

Till another day I am ready to move on with a little help from my friends.

1st Nov 2006
Here is my hanging basket I have been working on for xmas happy how it has turned out apart from a red trailing piece of foliage thought it would compliment.

Shall do spring baskets as well then summer.

It certainly has now turned cold outside cold enough for snow ,lifted my geraniums and potted them up to take indoors before they get frosted.
