WaLa...I have finished up the watering, & as much of the weeding I could get done...
My bags are packed and I am off to Reno Nevada...Meeting up with family and friends for a mini good time at the start of 'Hot August Nights' in Reno..
Will be back sometime next week..
Thankfully I did get someone to come stay and take care of the garden...Yippy!!!

Back from my trip, had a great time.
Spent the morning weeding and deadheading. The guy I got to stay here to look after the garden does not care to weed or deadhead..But every thing was watered...Now to catch up so I can leave again in 10 days.
I am having so much fun...
Moved 3 roses this morning.. & the ones the gopher got to that I soaked in vit. B water ~ then replanted, are doing great..Getting leaves...

The garden looks an over grow frowsy mess..Messy but beautiful too!
I started out at 6 AM (still a bit dark) but cool ~ pulling weeds along the drive out back. What a job, in 45 mins. I was done in..
I took the morning 'check walk', seen the tail end of the King snake going into his hiddie hole by the low stacked rock garden wall.
Mr. toad hurrying to his home some where in the upper garden.
Birds of many types flitting from flower to flower, many of them migrating back South.
All so sweet in the soft morning light.I didn't have a camera with me, so took photos in my memory..
The neighbors black cat, intensely watching a gopher hole in the middle garden bed, I tiptoes along so I wouldn't disturb her from her game...
Early morning risers passing by on their way to who knows what waving a greeting of Good Morning, I waving back..
The sound of the roosters crowning across the valley.
Walking through spider webs as it is very dry, so no dew to alert the eye to them being there across the path.
Ahhhhh Another wonderful August morning in the garden....

Whew! its pretty hot here again today,101 in the upper garden.... I was hoping all those thunder-head clouds building up in the East would dump a nice summer shower on us, but no luck with that..
Trying my best to cut back on water, it hurts my heart to see the gerber daisies wilted over so bad...Roses blooms burning up on the bushes. Everything in the garden at 3:30 today looked so wilted and sad.
I watered all the potted plants, they were so dry the poor dears...I came in with out looking to closely at the garden.. Nothing I can do for it..Suppose to start cooling this weekend. I hope!
The Goldfinch and other migrating birds are making short work of the Sunflowers out front, it is like a huge 'seed cafe' for them..So fun to watch.

Out in the garden early yesterday and today, Weeding and watering..
I have it pretty well caught up, But I will not dwell on what it will look like when I return from 10 days away.
The Epsom salts I gave all the roses really did the trick, they look perky again even in this heat.
Green beans are coming on strong, while the tomatoes are about done. All the herbs are doing real well.
Finishing up my packing, & writing out instructions for those that will be staying here...Although I doubt anyone really reads them..:):)

What a fun trip that was, could not have asked for better weather. I loved all the rain, and I tried real hard to wish it here to my garden...Didn't work!!!

I am still a tad tired from the travel but no big deal, a couple nights rest and I will be fine.

The garden is an over grown mess, the guy I had staying here didn't do much of any thing, I am very upset about that, but have to get over that....
Got to get busy.

Will never catch up here at GB, this is a busy sight!! which is great
although I it would be easier to read if I didn't have to scroll back and forth so much, I wonder why that is???
Oh well have not got time to worry about that.
It is out to the yard I go..water and weed and cutting things back is the name of the game around here for weeks to come..

Up early to get some early
morning garden work done.
My fingers are so sore from
all the weeding yesterday.
Did manage 5 trash cans full
before my back refused to do
one more thing. all that from
just 2 of the front beds....
So many more to go.
Ahhhh a gardner's life....
ALL the potted pots are full
of ants, going to need re-potting.
Also a lot of varmint activity
going on in the garden,
seems so early for that.
Signs of an early Fall.

Foggy this morning as it has been
the last few mornings..
Makes it look mysterious & haunting...
Wished it hid the weeds better.LOL
It does make it easier to see the
spider webs, of which there are hundreds..
Ants marching in tidy row lines all over the place.
Bees droning over the summer flowers.
Birds migrating ~ stopping for a snack
a bath and a drink.
The magic of later Summer.
I seen on the weather news it is going to get hot again...
Swell!

I have Bees hiving in the old rusted
milk can up by the gazebo..
I found out they were there when
I turned the sprinkler on, all
of a sudden there were Bees every where.
Once I turned the water off
they settled down and went back to
their business of gathering pollen.
I have a friend that keeps Bees,
so if they do become a problem
he said he would come get the queen,
and move them...
I hope they will just be fine
where they are, I love having them
in the garden..
Today I an taking a break
from my *Weed patch*...
Going to the races with friends..
I am looking to have a very fun day...
Lunching and betting the Ponies!!!!

Suppose to start cooling a bit
starting today..I will believe
that when I feel the *cool*..
I know I am sounding like a
broken record, but again it is
weedingweedingweeding...
No other way to put it..
This morning it is the middle
upper garden bank..
Where does all those weeds come from???
Cut most all of the Clematis back,
will get a nice Fall bloom from them..
At least that is my hope.
OK ...out I go to my little
garden Kingdom..

Hoo Boy It is hot again here.
101 that is suppose to be the
# of the Hy-way not the temp...
Not much I can do out in the garden during the day..Just to hot..
No rain at all, doesn't look like
we will get any either.
I was talking to a Nurseryman
the other day, we both feel this
area is in for some kind of Natures
damage before long.
Santa Ana blowing as it is,
puts us in peril.
It is wearing me out having to
water so early. But I do want to help with the
water shortage we are in.
Although it hurts my heart
and makes me mad to see
City and State properties watering
during the day.
Also big Corporation's..
But us common folks...
they want us to cut back.
OK enough of the 'soap box'

What a week this has been...
Hot - Humid - & all garden work.
I was lucky enough to get some
help so it has been intense
cutting back, pulling
weeds, watering, feeding,
all the stuff we do here in
Southern California to keep
the garden going.
We filled 20 trash cans full
of debris.-had to borrow some
from the neighbors.
There's probably enough stacked up
out there to fill 20 or more
trash cans - will have to wait
until the green waste is picked
up today then refill all the
cans for next week.
At least now I can see the end
of the tunnel:):):)
I have had no time for any thing
other than the garden.
When done for the day I was to
tired for any thing other
than a cool down, rest,& a glass
of wine.
Email a few friends,& check on my
family that isn't doing so well.
It was early bed and early rising..
Ahhh the life of a gardener for me...
Today I do need to deadhead all the roses .
They are doing their
very best to make it all look
pretty and make it look like
I am a 'great rose gardener'
Bless their little petals...
Golden rod, Anemones, Asters,
are the fall color, yet every
thing else is blooming right
along the same as always.
Going to be a fertilizing weekend...

I haven't been around here much.
Just have to much going on.
But I will take a break over this
weekend and relax, or at least
that is my plan..
I feel like that rabbit in one of
the Grandkids movies
"No time no time"
Been doing garden clean up,
which in reality looks more
like garden mess.
It also seems like I
have been at it *Forever*
Should have the worst of it
done by next week.
I don't take the time to
read many of of the forums,
takes to long, what with
scrolling back and forth.
Have so many seriously ill
in the older family now.
I try to spent time talking
with them.
My gardenbuddie Coral tree,
had a run in with a gopher,
I sure hope I can save it.
I have it soaking in Vit.B
water, and I a few of my
tears drops that fell into
the bucket too. will plant
tomorrow in a cage..

Got the 'EJ' gardenbuddie Coral tree replanted...Said the garden prayer over it..*Grow dam it*
Now I will hope for the best..
Of course soon as I planted it, the Santa Ana really kicked in, so will have to make sure to keep it deep watered..
The garden clean up is still a big chore on going. It is never ending..
Although there are some very pretty blooms in the garden right now.
Also some of the Spring bulbs are very mixed up and are starting up.
Ahhh the Southern California garden life!!!
