a warm weekend :) no sun yet today but the snow has been melting so Evee's spirits are up and she has enjoyed laying in the dry leaves under the bench watching who knows what. Hannah's birthday went well, a few of her friends made posters and taped them to her locker - she said she felt loved ~ it's about time! she's had such a tough time of it these last couple of years. I made a planter for her with striped crocus- her birth flower - hopefully they will bloom nicely. well, the coffee is done and I better get at it!

Wow! it has been awhile! The snow is melting fast but the lawns underneath are brown - you have to look hard to find any green but there has been so much nice blue, blue , blue above, been enjoying clear skies day and night. Today I made a cross from fallen branches, a simple 'Western Movie' style - then wired oasis and moss over that to anchor flowers to, I did a diagonal arrangement in yellow and white, mostly delicate mums with trailing greens, very pleased with the results, been wanting to do this for a few years. Aunt Carol took the one I originally made for Dad while we were waiting for the headstone to be finished. I was glad she could have something to take back to Mississippi with her. Tomorrows drive should be nice -- off to read in bed, think I will get in some work early tomorrow so I won't have it on my mind all day. It would be nice to have a true day off.

today was close to being a day off - tired from being up too early but still managed to make a pleasant day of it - didn't spill any martinis on the keyboard but then again I wasn't drinking martinis and I was watching a movie - Didn't get outside like I had hoped too - oh well, maybe on my next day off. Crocus are blooming :)

still waiting to spend some time outdoors - maybe tomorrow - I was in and out briefly to hang the summer wreath on the house and to take Evee out early am and just now - stars are out and the air is mild - got quite a bit done today and hope to make some good progress tomorrow as well. Evee barfed on the carpet - shouldn't have fed her the corn chips :(
half of a molasses cookie from Dina's is awaiting my hopefully early, evening retirement. |

I forgot about that Cookie! well that is next when I go crash - just got in from clearing the dry brush from 1/3 of the yard - the chimnea needed cleaning before I could burn it so now I look like a dalmation. delphiniums and ribbon grass made it through the winter nap! and it's past time, I'm done in...

The cookie was still good, amazing. I cleared out and burned 2 more bushels of dry brush - so much more to go. Was very nice to get out under a blue sky. The Magnolia and tulip buds are coming along. Meanwhile inside the house...

TIRED! I raked off all of the gardens where I will be planting seeds - that is on the agenda for tomorrow. All of the wallpaper is off of my walls -- too bad 3 of them are an unsettling cold yellow - I will be going crazy until they are painted over!! to bed..and I'm too tired to read |

ICK!! and I could feel it all around me when I woke up this morning before I even opened my eyes! Today I washed the ceiling and the walls and plaster work is being done now - hopefully tomorrow will be paint! Got the seeds in - ran out of places to put them so next year I must buy less enthusiastically.

It's painted, just waiting to be able to take the tape off and put things back in - here are some in between shots and a close-up of my recent investment and Ribbon Grass - today was busy but nice - there was a small light rain and it smelled so good coming in the open window -- Hannah did exceptionally well on her outline - let's see if the teacher gives her proper credit...

Finished, well, all except the light fixture. The yard is perking up- the magnolias blossomed out today - love that scent! and the oak tree is definitely still alive, what a relief. Tulips are also blooming - to bed early, don't know why but I feel so tired. |

I did make a nice lunch and got the days work in but other than that it's been a lay-a-bout kind of a day but I guess those are needed once in a while. looks like Evee and bunny are on that same wavelength

Made a foray to the garden center, wish I had brought my camera! came home with a trailing vine, 2 red exotic delicate things and blue-black pansies for the tall planter - counted it as a work expense. Some left-over pansies went on the patio with extra garden moss tucked over the dirt, hope the moss takes, looks nice. Also bought an orange begonia for Clover's garden. No sign of the pumpkins or corn yet but the other seeds are coming through along with marigolds that planted themselves. Lots to do yet tonight... Hmm... when I checked this evening I noticed the corn IS up , out of the blue 1 inch in a day, amazing!

Enjoyed a fire on the patio and enjoyed watching the almost full moon through the blossoming branches of the crabapple tree - Beautiful! |

snow yesterday, sun today but still quite cool - Evee hasn't noticed or doesn't care - she has been enjoying being outside laying in the grass. The crabapple is blooming and smells so nice. I bought a pretty 1930's looking support to tame the asters - when he bloom in the fall they do get out of control. Oh yes, and I saw the first fuzzy bumblebee of the summer - love that! |

it's May 1 and there has been snow here off and on all day - crazy! I was given an early Mother's Day present - a pink tree - crabapple - to grow 20 feet tall, it will be so pretty when it grows and spans out. off to take a nap - Lunch at Cossettas complete with Chianti & Lazzaroni Amaretti Chocolate requires it - feels like the good life today :)
