Well..Summer is over and i am starting this Journal..October the 5th 2004..I will start with the Garden Transformation of our Backyard that looks out to the lake..
Here is our Before picture

We first started by adding Resin Lattice that we screwed to the original Fence

We have decided to put me a potting shed and place for Gary to clean Fish on this side that gets shade most the day..also you will see the side view of the beds..

Another View of those side beds..we may enlarge before finishing...

A new BirdHouse that Gary put ontop of an existing pole which once housed the old satelite..this was his idea..GREAT ONE in my opinion..

My Working Vision....

Also..this day i wanted to add some pics of my Flowers so i can see the difference next year...
This is my 2 yr. old Blue Daze..will it be here next year?

The Knockout Roses i planted this year have really spilled out onto my Sidewalk..i love these Bushes..they are so prolific...

Cardinal Vine..i had taken baby seedlings from my Dear Departed Dads Garden..they did well this year...

The Caladiums i planted this year did better than i had expected...

An unexpected surprise of my wild morning glorys that grew up into my Roses on my Arbor....

My "Teasing Georgia" Roses i planted on the Arbor have decided to grow along the Wrought Iron Fence..its OK WITH ME..lol

Something new i had never seen and planted in my Garden this year..Its "Sweet Memorys" quickly became my Favorite...

Another new plant for me... CorkScrew Vine..i had planted this last year and nothing happened ..so you can imagine how shocked i was it came back..i mistakenly thought and PRAYED that it was one of the two Clematis i planted there but to my mixed feelings it wasn't..still tickled with it since i found out it was one of Jefferson Davis' favorite flowers in his Gardens at Monticello....

I can't leave out the Fountain that Gary bought for me..i was thrilled as i had not just wanted the pond but a Fountain in the middle of it..i love Lions spewing water..want to have a "Wall Mounted" one in the backyard...

Another addition and something unknown to me i saw on QVC was my "Gloriosa Lily" I like it....

They got a nice drink and were put in a nice shaded area awaiting for me to plant.
I received "Fireworks" on October the 7th and anxiously planted her with lovely compost and bonemeal..this is what she looked like when she arrived from Joy Creek Nurseries to me..sad..but as Miquel had reinforced assurance..its the roots that are important...here is her sad looking state when she got to me...

Here is a Picture of her Glorious Roots...

Another exciting moment in my garden..Lynn aka "Karma" Happy Toes has gratiously allowed me to "test" her new plant in my garden..I received her Oct.14,2004 and as instructed planted her October 15th in a pot with rich black soil, osmocote and i chose to dig a hole and "drop" the pot in since my climate here in Texas is still decent..the days are now anywhere from mid 70s to mid 80s.. waking up to 60s..so i shall leave her there till the first sign of cold weather and bring her into my home...here is Mme. "Brugmanisa Jutner Peachy Cream" in all her Splender...making her debut in my garden...

I also received "Iochroma" Plum which i shall plant the same way except only morning sun for my new little darling...

Well today is Tuesday..Nov. 2,2004...went and voted this morning..in and out in 5 minutes..no one there ..what a record..guess it was because it was 7:30am...lol...
Boy, did we have a stormy night Sunday night...woke up and Gary was gone..he was outside in his raincoat putting the extension on the downspout that is in the new beds so it wouldn't flood.. Local weather channel said our County was under Severe Storm/Tornado watch...whew ..we were ok..but what a Storm...my already saturated yard from my neighbors broken sprinkler didn't need a downpour of this magnitude..It drizzled rain all day Monday and this morning heard it is snowing in the Panhandle(Lubbock and Amarillo) seems early to me.....our waking temps are to be about 45* tomorrow..
I am so excited about "Karmas' " Jutner Peachy Cream...that i want to document a pic i took just the other day to compare to the one i took on 10/14/04 ..

And the "Pillu" Clematis is twining its way up...woohoo...

It now 69* so today is really nice..I asked my Mom and Sisters to come here for Thanksgiving..but no commitment yet..they all know i like to plan in advance..grrrrr..if i don't have an answer soon ..i would rather just stay home alone....Jeanne

Our temp is just about 70* today..i really don't relish the thought of winter coming..i went outside to fiddle with my flowers and still have some growing..do you think they don't know its November?..Please be a mild winter..you know how i hate the cold...here is my Favorite Geranium...to me it looks like Picasso could have painted it himself...love the color and the streaks in it..

Some of my Cannas' are looking better than they have all summer..i will be relocating many of them to the new beds i have built...
Here is a red one...

And i really love this Deeper Red one//

I love it when Nature does its own thing...here are some Impatients that have popped up in this Wild Asparagus Fern..i have that Fern everywhere?!?!?

Of course i can't go anywhere in my Gardens without "Pookies" following me and peeking from a window here or there..
Plant Forum
I have tons of bulb that have come in..seems like i am procrastinating to plant them...i think there is a part of me that is in denial..like if i don't plant them MAYBE winter won't come..sheshh..so Goodnight Journal and i shall hope when i come again i will have those bloody things in the ground..which reminds me i need to soak those Anenomes overnight before planting..grrrrrrrr...

Dear Diary..
Its Wednesday, Nov. 17th..What a miserable, dreary day..it has done nothing but Rain, Drizzling Rain all day.. Our weather Channel predicted rain for the last two days so i held off watering my newly planted Clematis...Gary said it had rained at his office in Houston but none here..told him i was just gonna hafta water today..Well, guess what i went to let the Dogs back in and BOOM it was a Pouring Driving Rain.. So, this is definitely our Southern Texas Winter...yuck..guess i shouldn't complain huh?..Some get snowed in or have to put up with that slushy mess all winter long..Brrrrrrr..gave me chill bumps just to think about it...I had premeditated to plant some bulbs Friday since the weather was to be clear and in the 70s..but who knows its now only 64*..Been busy, doing housework yuck...been on the computer looking at tons of Clematis and Roses..dreaming of next Spring..This morning when i woke up, i opened the blinds in my Bedroom and just stared at the lovely white lattice fence, envisioning all the color i can enjoy from my bed...Gary brought me my coffee to bed and said i bet i know what you are thinking about..LOL..If he really only knew....mmm..it will be a nice place to sit on that sofa and read a book and just pause to look at all the new flowers i will have..the thought only makes me wish for Spring to come..The Gardeners came and brought me some more soil..and its NICE, BLACK and RICH!!...Plan on topping if off with Cowmanure and Compost come Jan or Feb..to get it going right for Spring..Anyway...just thought i would pop in and type some thoughts..OH YEA!!..Started back my Yearly winter knitting..am knitting a Deep Burgandy Afghan for the New Leather Couch.. irritating cat..he kept meowing to go out that i lost count and ended up ripping out about 6 rows to get my pattern straight..LOL..Oh well, Knitting will help me to keep my sanity till i can get back out in my Gardens...and i have to admit it truly is theraputic....

Wednesday..Nov. 24,2004
Dear Diary,
What a day yesterday was..It has been raining for days now.Seems as if it will never end..the lake is really up and some poor people in other parts of Texas have flooded and drowned or killed by tornados. Yesterday was one of the worse days ever..the Lightening struck so close to the house that when it hit everything inside of the house was filled with this brilliant light preceded with a horrific "BOOM"!!..It literally blinded me, like being right in front of a flashbulb..Pookies, my cat came running in the house with all his hair standing up..that was the only thing that made me laugh.. We went and bought stuff to make Thanksgiving Dinner and Gary bought me a beautiful birdfeeder that is solar powered...it's like stained glass on all four sides of beautiful cardinals..and with the solar lights will shine at night..glad i didn't put it out or the storm would have broken it for sure.. We were watching the new "Harry Potter" dvd..Prisoner from Azabar or something like that and was at the end when the electricity went out.. For about 45 minutes to an hour.. The wind blew so hard it knocked my Potted Dracena over and made a mess on my screened-in porch..Alas, with all the rain, i haven't been able to get out and plant my bulbs..the weatherman says a cold front is on its way..You should see my Tuberose..i have been waiting DAYS for this HUGE BLOOM to open and the wind just blew it sideways, still intact..i hope it blooms before we get it cold...Also, my other Bromeliad is blooming...the colours are so vibrant..i just love those plants..We won't be going to Mothers' for Thanksgiving.. You would think after all these years you would know someone..the old adage of "When someone shows you who they are BELIEVE THEM!!!" is so true.. I hope they all have a nice time!..
I hope today we can get the Christmas Tree put up and decorate the inside of the house..and in the next coming days hope the sun comes out so we can get the lights put outside.. I love this time of the year..all the holiday cheer..BUT, i don't like our overcast drizzly, dreary days....Guess you can't have it all..I just pray we don't have an extended freeze this winter..would be nice to have a mild winter like last year...I have my list of "Honey-Dos" for Gary and so far 2 of the 8 are done..lol... Well, i need to go let the cat in ..will follow up Diary and see what transpires....Jeanne
Here is a pic of my Bromeliad:

December 1,2004
Is it really Dec. 1st !?!?!?!...Whew, this year has flown by...We had our first Frost last night. I pulled up my Potted Plumeria i had in the ground, along with my 2 Mandevillas and Lynns' Jutner Brug..put them in the Garage except for the Brug..its lovingly under the lights that are under my cabinets in the kitchen... It really has done beautifully since its arrival in my gardens..I covered both the Closet plants, Dracena and Sheffelera on the patio.. woke up to the grass having a white frost on top of it...I forgot to cover my Begonias or Blue Daze...Hope i don't lose them..time will tell..AND of course my Tuberose is still trying to open.. Got the Christmas Tree up and the inside decorated for Santa..it looks so festive.. Gary put the remote control on my ceiling fan in the Masterbedroom..bless his heart he didn't get everything on my list done..LOL..and i have said,"Gezzzz on my way out of the subdivision this morning i saw alot of people got their houses decorated ..duh..but NOT ME!!..LOL..
Its suppose to have scattered thunderstorms this weekend with the temps being in the 60s* so that isn't too bad...but not good for putting up lights and decorating outside!!
Thats really about it.. Still trying to figure out what to tell Santa what i want for Christmas..do i be practical and ask for that New Rose arbour i want or do i ask for another mink coat?..Sheshhh.. decisions...decisions..decisions... nitey nite Diary....Jeanne
ps..bought the new Jet Li Movie for tonight..woohoo

Hard to believe another year is coming to a close...What a Year!!..And what a way to end the Year with the devastation of the Tsunami..My heart aches for all the people that were lost and their loved ones this New Years Eve..Nothing to really want to celebrate for them..And this part of the year which is usually a time for celebration will always remained marred for them...All we can do is pray..Personally, I don't feel like going to any parties..seriously thinking of just going to bed and let it come in quietly..I will share my last pic of my Closet Plant that finally bloomed for me after dividing it back in April..I do have something to look forward to and that is all the new plants for the new gardens we created..

What a Horrible way to start the New Year..I know this is my Gardening Journal but my heart is breaking and I have cried for days..My Mother had backsurgery and I went there to help my sister care for her...Tina, my sister said some of the most horrible things to me..I have never been spoken to in such a vulgar hurtful way..I know as Jesus directed we are to forgive over and over..was is John that went to Jesus and said,"Lord are we to forgive those who hurt us 7 times?" and I believe his response was something like " We are to forgive 7 x 70." Meaning over and over and always..I have had to do some major praying to keep from hurting asking God to forgive her..I feel its the end of our relationship and must face it...Something is seriously wrong with her and I ask God to bless her and watch over her and to intervene and take that evil part of her away..these things I ask in Jesus Christ name...AMEN

It's amazing the difference a month can make..The temps have been in the low to mid 70*s..My Geraniums are budding and flowering as if to sing to me, "Spring is on its way"..Like a Siren in the mist calling those that are lost and looking for a place to call home..My Roses are budded and the Knockout are full right now preparing to burst upon the scene to announce they feel like living again..I am so ready for those cloudy, dreary days past to fade like some nightmare that one dreads...I know the rains are due as they usually come to drench my soil and awaken the seeds from last year that have been sleeping like a baby awaiting for their mother to awaken them with their bottle..that drink of life..I also feel a "Resurrection" in my life..being renewed and rebirthed...The sadness of things that were obliterated by the things to come..I have so many plans this year for my Garden..and if the Lord is willing I shall accomplish it all and can sit back and enjoy all that work...Well, Its now 3:12 and so much to do...will try to be more vigilant Dear Diary and visit you more frequently..My heart hasn't been in it but now its beginning to SING once more....

Wow its only 2 days till my birthday..alot has transpired in the New year..Considering we have had two weeks of just fabulous weather..in the 70s and Sunshiney!!..Gary and I went to Lowe's and of course you know we couldn't come home empty handed.. WE BOUGHT A MYERS LEMON TREE!!..How exciting is that..mmm..the fragrance was just breathtaking..I can't wait to get my first Lemon..Heck, Just the beautiful Blooms are worth having this tree!!

Miquel and Leonardo brought some more Black Rich Texas "T" Composted Cowmanure to top off my beds..talk about a wonderous smell that always makes me think of Spring!!..

And so it begins..the Bed have taken shape..Planted some Cannas that I divided from the walkway..Planted the New Improved Myers Lemon Tree and Transplanted my Durante Erecta aka "Sweet Memories" so they can grow to their little (I mean BIG) hearts content!!..

I have carried this Hibiscus around for 13 years in this Pot and NOW it FINALLY has a resting place...I am expecting great things from it now...Its already budding out!!

We took the Birdbath from around the other side of the house and put it Here...I am still looking for a Loquat Tree to plant behind and some "Encore Azaleas" on each side, We have tons of birds back there now since Gary put in tons of new bird feeders for me and now they have a place to take a drink and bathe..what's even nicer is that all this can be viewed from our MasterBedroom Windows

I also had planted tons of bulbs back there and was thrilled to see that My Ganzia Daisy has started blooming again!!

Well Diary I guess you can tell I am in Mahvelous spirits..this time of the year does that to me...I love seeing my visual dreams begin to take form..Even Gary is starting to see what I meant and is already designing the Pergola mentally and spoke to me of his design..I get tickled when he is motivated and sees my vision and helps make it become a reality...we truly are a good fit!!..I love him so...I order more bulbs.. Some rainlilys and other Lilys..some can go in the new garden since they like full sun, while some will go around the Fountain up front for they don't like the hot evening sun!!..Ok, Its off to find some more stones for the Fountain..I am expecting Leonardos father to come over and help me weed and put in some more compost ..I am so much wanting to throw the seeds that all my gardening buds from all over have mailed to me..but I MUST WAIT!!..want to get it just right!!..Impatience, Impatience be my middle name..
