Gardening in a new zone. 4b. Interesting, I have a ton of sun. Not used to everyday filled with sunshine. I have Humidity like I have never seen. Should be interesting to see what the winter brings. Plants so far seem the same. More garden stores that I am used to. I put up some seeds the other day in the greenhouse. What a nice thing to have in the garden. Lupin, columbine, Donna's poppies, those Blue Pea Vine from eBay I have had for years. they have sprouted! :) I am so glad to of dragged those TBI all over the place. Charles had started these hollyhocks for me. They are doing great.
some lavendar ,never tried to grow that from seed. Goinng to have a nice little garden with an arbor. Still have to find a climbing rose bush. Maybe something white from www.davidaustinroses.com
Sunflowers are such fun!
How they grow this fast in one month is amazing to me. Each day they change. From morning to evening. Hope to keep these at this section of the garden. they do great there.

Planted up viola seeds tonite. Should be a ready for Fall. Can't believe the mums are out already where did the summer go? Love this German ivy great in the shade. Porch should have hanging ferns & the ivy. Goes well with the hosta. Want to dig up the boxwood out front & replace with blue hydrangea. The buds are finally starting on the glories. YEAH! It's hopefully going to be a wall of blue. Ming had a birthday too this weekend. 13. She loves being part of the "pack". Keep petunia 's in window boxes at gazebo. They worked great. And in the hanging baskets too. Started them late but they look great. not leggy at all. Used that 10-50-10 from Shultz. How's that working? |

So glad I snatched my obelisk , worth it. SO far sunnies seem happy there, and I have a moon flower & a blue glory growing there. I DO have buds on each now. Finally. . The glories on the fence are going nuts. Should be really pretty by Labor Day. Charles came up with a great idea of having my sunnies at the driveway & putting his blueberry bushes where they are now. I think that is gonna be really nice. Make a great backdrop for the arbor. I can't believe how much we have growing in the yard. Making use of every square inch. Breezy morn. Nice to hear the birds singing. Fall is comin, you can feel & hear the changes. Still much to do. TBI in the greenhouse are doing fair. Think I lost 5. I'm not giving up hope on them yet though. Have to get my stones washed & moved. Can't wait for my cute garden to be born. ! Planted dwarf lupin, they are growing well in the greenhouse, but I still have to do up some regular sized ones. Flies ........ hhhhhmmmm. Must of killed a thousand so far. Harry is such a love, think since he got his haircut he is enjoying being touched. Ming is gimpy this morning. her front leg seems to be bothering her more. Hope she is ok. George, his leg hurts him too. I feel for that old man. |

Something to be said for the serenity of an early morning this time of year. Love to listen to the bugs singing . The rain has brought everything to a standstill for a few days. but, we did need it. Chilled things down, a bit too. Odd for August. The flies are everywhere.EW! This afternoon I have to work in the new garden I am starting. Lori was so kind and shared 5 kinds of hosta and some bee balm and a purple day lily. Have to get those in too. Still want to pop out those box woods & put in hydrangea. do some other things out front too. Pictures need to be posted. Much to do. Its so pretty here. Peaceful. Soon the hawk will come & old man Winter is just around the corner. Where has the summer gone. |

What an evil storm we had! Stayed in the gazebo and watched, like a hurricane the winds.. . The rain so deep My poor baby sunnies. Murdered! Even the bench on the front porch was soaked. ( There WAS a tornado last year at the end of the street. Took off roofs , understand the school was damaged too. 3 blocks away.) Constant rain for a half hour. When it stopped my sunnies were doing the gangster lean. SO sad. They are so heavy. Hard to move. I guess its a fitting death to them that I got a . Time to make room for the future blueberries. Next year I can put them along side the driveway and really steak them up stronger, although we did pretty well! |

Glories did well, just wish they would burst forth.
Best luck with tunnies ever. Don't know if it was because of not getting them in till July instead of May. They never got leggy. So thrilled with them. Where has the summer gone. Still trying to get settled. Learning my way around. ODAT. That moon tonite, so pretty. Added Lori's hosta to the front side of the house today where the 3 bushes were. will have to put those in pots. . Hope they make it. Also lupine from seed, they are such fragile things right now. Just wanted to get them in! Dug up around the tree, divided a coral bell that was here, and tall aquilegia that was here, don't know which one it is. Also, aquilegia from seed that Psilo gave me! Very excited to see which ones they are too. I would like to find atleast one foxglove on sale. for there. Or seeds. . tossed in those viola too. should be pretty. Still would like to replace the boxwood with hydrangea in the Fall. My iris are doing so well !!!! Going to try some in containers, and put the rest in the earth. should be interesting to see which ones live & who they are. |

Love having a greenhouse to use. What a fun structure. Shame every gardner does not have one to use. Must find some fun seeds to try this Winter. I would love to be able to grow all my annuals. Have to start to gather seeds from the garden soon. Tunnies did well, Glories too over and ate baskets in their path. Not thrilled with that at all. And still not blooming like I would of wanted. Obelisk did fair. Want to try to keep the Geranium over the Winter. What a color! 'My boyfriend George' showed me what to do with that. I have to plant something in my garden for him. what a kind soul he was. " Best roses are the first & the last, and all the ones inbetween. " I should of dug up that Hot Cocoa rose. The old Blue Pea vine seeds from eBay all those years ago grew! Suprise Suprise. And NOT the plant I was thinking it would be either. BIG SUPRISE. Charles got me a pretty Susan. Should be able to divide nicely.( Not a goldstrum) have to look this one up. *** Have to find State Fair Zinnia for next year. No one here seemed to have that. ** Found another Grandbaby angle like from N.C. She is in a basket. too cute for words. The perfect spot is out there I just know it. My 3 yr old mandy is gonna bloom! YEAH. So glad that stick grew. she is in the greenhouse again. Have to make my usual notes soon. am fallin behind this year. Plant of the summer 2007 has to be GERMAN IVY!!!!!!! What a find.! WOW!. Love that cute man @ Blacks too. Nice place to get things. |
