It is rather pleasant outside today (so far-- it's supposed to rain again). It would be a great day for planting bulbs, but I just did order some online this morning from a couple of places other GB's recommended. It doesn't matter anyway since I will be at work all day then have to clean the r. hall tonight. Hopefully I'll get my bulbs next week and get off early one day to plant them (fingers crossed)!

I took some cuttings from my plant I received as a gift here at work. I still can't believe I haven't killed this thing! I've had it over 5 years and it has gotten so big. Hopefully the cuttings will do well once I transfer them at home :)

That is a very nice pot. Very artistic and I love the colors and textures. I should have taken photos of the urns around town. They have some enormous ones, plus hanging baskets full of cascading flowers on the street lamps. Some day I would like to have an enormous urn and design my own planting for it. That would be the extent of my container gardening... one simple, large urn. That's about all I could keep up with.

That sounds so neat. The little town I live in is finally starting to clean up a bit. A lot of the business owners have started to set out big pots with plants in them. Its nice to see them do something like that.

I wish I stuck to just one planter every year...that would take up a lot less time (but it wouldn't be as pretty compared to about 10 of them). Hmmm...I wonder how long it takes Deanne to take care of all of her planters--I can only imagine! I love the way she makes them look like they are part of the landscaping. I can't incorporate mine at all.

Just dropped Kr off at the airport. She is going to see J for the weekend. Hope she has a good time. I think it will do her good to get away from here for a few days. She seems to need it after what she's been through the past couple of months. I sort of wish I could have gone with her!

As soon as I started typing, "that would be the extent of my container gardening", I knew I'd think of something to blow that notion out of the water. Sure enough, I started typing in my journal just moments later and thought about how I'd rather grow my tomatoes in pots or hanging bags than in the ground. Doh! Yes, Deanne is quite the pot artiste. She's the reason why I'd like to try one large urn... I just might be able to pull that off. I have certainly been inspired to try, anyway.

P just called me. I was surprised to see her name on my CID since she just stopped in to see me yesterday. She called to tell me she IS having a boy! Yay for her!! She again invited me out tonight. She is so nice. All these things that come up to do on Fridays and I gotta clean. Some days I wish I didn't have this cleaning job, but the extra few bucks help. Today is D's bday. He and A, Dar, Mir & NF are going to the boat tonight. Maybe they'll hit the jackpot. That would be nice. Any one of them could use the $ right now with everything each of them has going on...weddings, houses, etc. I'm actually surprised they are going there since everyone is tight on money. Hope they have fun though.

Right now is about the time K's plane should be landing. Hope she made it ok.

I'm in a depressed mood today for some reason. I keep searching my desk drawers for food/chocolate. I found some snack bars, Skittles & Reese's Pieces in D's desk. Chowed down & now I feel even FATTER! I really need him to lock his desk drawers (well not really, I just need to use SELF CONTROL) so I can't get to his food. I don't know how he doesn't eat it all. I'd have it gone in a week (if not less).
I'm tired of being here today. It's been a long week. Getting OT again. Wonder how long it will take them to say something to me about it. Oh well. I guess one good thing is that the sun is shining for the moment...nope, now it's gone

Lisa I just came to lurk and see what you had done today but I didn't expect to read how down you were. Big hug from me. It must get you down not being able to see your friends cos you have to work cos you need the money and probably doesn't help that you have worn yourself out. I find being tired always makes the world seem a more gloomy place. So put your feet up, watch a film or read a good book and get an early night. Thats an order! I will check back tomorrow to see how you are doing. [OoGBoO] moira x

Hi Moira :)
Thanks for the post. It made me feel better. I also feel better since I only have 5 more minutes left at work. It is hard when a lot of my friends go out all the time or have more time on their hands (it seems). It is my fault too. I try to do too much & push myself too much. I actually got more sleep last night than I have in awhile & I feel more tired than ever today!! I think the dreary day has a lot to do with it. I think I will head home & try to take a walk before I go clean. I am sure after I clean I will go to my mom's for remnants of the birthday dinner & dessert, so that walking before hand might do me some good! Maybe after I leave my mom's I WILL just take it easy tonight. Good suggestion. Thanks again Moira (and thanks for giving me a fish bowl this time...hehehe). [OoGBoO]

Wah, I just read your journal and I am so sad to hear that you were depressed today!! I wish I had checked in sooner. I got bogged down inventorying my seeds after lunch. I'm glad Moira at least caught you before you left. That's what [*O*oGBo*O*] are for! (I dropped some *candy* in your tank to help you feel better. ) If it makes you feel any better, I was in a depressed mood, too. I figured it was either a moon phase, the cold and sometimes dreary weather, or just being deprived of the exciting marathon chats we've had lately.... work is a drag and my boss is a ____! LOL.

Yes, last Friday was just a bummer. It is better today :) - a new week :) Sorry to hear you were kinda down yourself on Friday.
Gosh DJ, I read your journal entry and it sounds like you have a ton of seeds and went through a bunch. Before I forget, thanks for the candy, lol :)
Wow! A 60lb watermelon! I would love to see the collage you put together.

Hi, there! I sent you an email through GB...

Didn't do much in the yard this weekend other than rake some leaves. I was going to save them & use for compost, but as I was gathering them to put in the garbage can, I looked down and saw that someone's dog decided to leave me a present and I managed to find it. It made me mad so I just decided to set this bunch of leaves out for the trash. Hard telling how much I already put in there before I realized it. Hopefully I might squeeze in enough time today to cut the grass.

Stopped by C's house Friday night. C said I had to come in & see the new dishwasher & washing machine her mom got her. How bad is that when you get excited over large appliances?!! I can understand though- I would be too if I were her. I can't believe "Do" is going to be nine years old! Where has the time gone? MF is getting so big as well. I really need to get over there more to see them more & start cleaning for her again. Just no time in my crazy, busy life I am living right now. Will I ever turn it around? Why do I do what I do? I was doing so good, but then just did a 180. Guess it is better than a 360!

Saturday was cold, rainy & just plain dreary. I baked some German chocolate brownies, no bakes and a cherry cheesecake. I made some chili too. For some reason the past 3 times I made no bakes, they won't harden. I've not done anything different that I know of. I've made them hundreds of times and all of the sudden I can't make them! urgh! I wonder if I'm not boiling it long enough...I'll have to try them again.

On Sunday I practiced two of my 243 hunting loads. The NCT95's gave excellent groups. They were better than the SIR100GK's. Once I saw the groups, I had remembered that I figured that out last year (oh, where has my memory gone?). I already have so many of the 100GK's made..I guess I will try to use those up for practice (although the groups are still tight enough to use for hunting) and make more with the NCT's for hunting. I will have to try to do am going to try to work in the yard tonight since I don't have volleyball or basketball.

Dropped my truck off this morning to get balanced..again. This makes the 3rd time. Apparently, they didn't know what they were doing the 1st time (and the manager admitted it--how often does that happen?). So after I picked it up after the 2nd time, it was still not right, but not as bad. It only took a day and it was back to being way out of balance. Needless to say, the mgr. didn't look to happy when he saw me pull up. I just hope they can get it fixed right this time. It is a pain to have to keep getting a ride to/from work/home b/c of this. Vehicles--they're great until they break.

Hopefully I'll be able to take a late lunch so I can pick up K from the airport. I'll have her drop me off to pick my truck up. Maybe I'll be able to just go home & not have to come back to work for the day. That would be nice, even if it is only an hour or so I get out of being here!(keeping my fingers crossed!)

Late yesterday morning I found out my vball tourn. was that night instead of next Mon. That kind of screwed up my evening plans. I had to rush home from work & change clothes & head right back out to make it there by 5:45. We won the 1st game & had an hour or so to kill before the 2nd game. K wanted me to stay but instead I rushed back home to get the grass cut & had enough time to trim the beds as well. I had to blow the leaves & grass since I didn't have enough time to sweep it all. I then headed back for my 2nd game. We lost that one. It is hard to play when it gets further in the season & is so cold. Everyone is either bundled up & can't move from the layers of clothes, or else they are freezing and can't move! I stayed & talked to K & Lin for a little bit then went home.

So much to do & so little time. I didn't know where to start. Laundry will wait another day or two, or three.... I cut back the begonias and brought them inside (supposed to frost again tonight). I left the water boiling on the stove and forgot about it. It ended up burning on the smooth top & I had to scrub it off. I am such an idiot sometimes. I scrubbed too hard I guess. The front of the stove fell off the platform D made for it. I had to get it back on the platform. I never realized that stove was so heavy.

I got my flower bulbs yesterday :) After I brought in the begonias (& cleaned the stove), I decided to figure out where I am going to plant all of these bulbs. I didn't get very far, as I fell asleep at the kitchen table while trying to read my bulb book. I tried & tried, but I couldn't keep my eyes open. I decided to work on it tonight instead (if I get my hunting loads done). I thought I bought plenty of bulbs, but after coming up with some ideas last night, I think I need more. (Note to self: You dummy, you have to find the time to plant these 150 bulbs first! Quit finding more work for yourself to do without enough time to do it all!!!!)

Poor thing! I can relate to that, though... I was in bed by 7:30 last night. 12 hours later, I still didn't want to get out of bed.

Yesterday was sooo nice out, I had to get outside after being inside at work all day. It sucks when my co-workers will go out for lunch or just walk outside & take a break & come back in & they all say how nice it is outside. Heck, they can leave whenever they want & I am stuck here all day. Why do they have to come in & tell me how nice it is out there??!!!

Since I heard it was so nice out, I decided my bullets would have to wait until another night. I worked in the yard until after dark. I didn't get the bulbs planted yet (although that was my intention), but I was able to do some cleaning up so I am ready to plant bulbs. My neighbor WC, was talking to the mean neighbor & she saw me & yelled out "Ok, it's time for bed now!" I just looked up & smiled. She asked, "Don't you ever stop girl?", to which I replied, "No, I'm afraid I'll get lazy if I do!" and went on about. It was pretty funny, the mean neighbor just turned her head while WC talked to me!

NEwayzzz, I cut back the peonies, daylillies & daffs, tall phlox, purple cone flower and black eyed susans. Everything along the fence line looks so bare now, sigh. Surprisingly the coreopsis aren't browning yet, so I didn't cut them down. They're giving some greenery anyway. I deadheaded the mums last night too.

I need to dig up the orn. grass by the chimney (hmmm...where am I going to put it?!). I don't like it there anymore & for some reason, it is not staying compact like it used to. The big grass by the back door keeps flopping over too. I can't believe how much that took off since I've planted it. Why can't the ones in the front do that well?

By the time I got done in the yard, Dar called to tell me Mir was preg. What to think about that?!!! I could have predicted that one (sort of did, but kept it to myself). Dumb move on his part, but none of my business and only my opinion which I'm entitled to. He'll have a lot of work on his hands trying to get their house done himself (not that she ever did much to help anyway). Sigh. I'm happy if he is.

K H also called to tell me Kar was upset about bball practice. K H said she has never seen Kar this way. She is upset...no wonder, a 4th grader playing bball on a 5/6th grade team. She thinks the coach yells at her. I am sure it he was just raising his voice so they/she could hear. K H said Kar wanted to talk to me about it. Kind of made me feel good to hear that. K H said it was all Kar's idea. I will have to talk to her one day this week & help her with her bball skills--without mini me there! lol

I talked to K H more about Dar & Mir. I explained I didn't want to give her a baby shower after the way I was treated throughout the whole wedding & shower ordeal. How rude. What a way to make someone really feel like sh*t. Not even a simple verbal "thank you" for all of the gifts. Not even 1 word of thanks for all the sh*t I did. I'm sure D S U, Ang or any of the others got a "thank you" either. The only thing keeping me sane is that I know in my heart that Dar is appreciative. Just as I was when he helped me. I guess it is just a difference in people. I was very grateful to everyone that helped me & told them verbally & sent them cards. I would return the favor any day, which is the only reason I helped out so much (for Dar). I hope she at least sent out thank you's to everyone else anyway (although it wouldn't surprise me if she hadn't). K H said D B H feels the same way I do about her. K H sounded too much like mom--feeling sorry & sticking up for Mir. A bunch of crap...just like only working 6 hr days & going to mom's & doing absolutely nothing when she could/should be working on their house. Again, none of my business, but since these are just my thoughts/opinions, it is good to be able to vent here in my journal. I don't know what good it does, if any. I don't know if it makes me feel better or worse, but whatever. Hopefully I'll be able to look back on all of this and laugh.

After talking on the phone waaaayy more than I like, fixing something to eat, doing some dishes & getting coffee ready for this morning I called it a day. This colder weather just makes me tired and my mind needed to shut down & not think of those angry thoughts that I should put behind me :(

I think that is enough for now. I'll set my new GA cd on repeat & try to get some work done this morning. I've rambled enough for now (and about another weeks worth of entries)! I really need to shorten these things up.
Flowerfreak Posted on Thursday, November 01, 2007 - 09:57 am:   Last Buddysize PhotosPrint Post

Reading yesterdays entry I realize how angry I was. It bothered me all day how angry I was typing that entry. I hold my thoughts in 2 much. I guess my anger was about a years worth or more built up

I got home from work yesterday & was able 2 get 2 packages of bulbs planted N the front left bed B4 trick-or-treat started. Not much, but it's a start :)

Went 2 mom's & 8 some dinner B4 I took the kids out trick-or-treating. Went back 2 mom's & had more dinner & dessert. D was there when I got back. Checked C & T's candy so they could eat some. Watched the UK game. Had 2 give ALL of the kids 2 piggy-back rides each, around mom's house. I was still sore from the piggy back & airplane rides from the week before. My legs can't lift 85lbs like they used 2! No wonder why I feel so old, lol. I finally snuck out of there & went home. I made myself do 2 loads of laundry. I was so tired again 4 some reason. I fell asleep reading (again).

Last night Kar told me about bball. She said she would keep playing & not quit if I went 2 some of her games (silly girl, I usually DO go 2 all of their ball games!)hehe

Got 2 work early today just N case I get 2 leave early & am able 2 get some more bulbs planted :)
Flowerfreak Posted on Monday, November 05, 2007 - 09:17 am:   Last Buddysize PhotosPrint Post

Planted more bulbs this weekend:
-tulips in porch bed, right rear corner (dark purple)
-tulips in porch bed, front, middle (part of batch of 18)
-tulips in front corner bed, 2 sets of 8 (pink) on either side of rock & 3 remaining yellow in between those
(dug up crocus bulbs on the right side that were where I planted the pink tulips. Need to replant...possibly move them over towards hydrant)

I also:
-Cut back hostas in front bed
-Took out soaker hose from front bed that goes around 1/2 of side yard. *Need to remember not to run it under the stakes & obelisk next year! My poor clem :( I hope it is ok.

Saw a large bud & some smaller ones on the clem in the back...hope they open soon so I get to see what they look like (1st year)!

-Cut back 2 main porch planters & brought inside. Not sure if new plants I tried this year will grow back or not...guess I'll find out.

So far the squirrels have left the first batch of bulbs alone. Put chicken wire down & used some landscape staples. Scattered leaves over disturbed areas. Again, so far so good. I hope I do not have to go to drastic measures again to keep them out of the bulbs.

Still need to dig up orn. grass by chimney. Maybe put it along back fence somewhere...

It is supposed to rain today, but still so much on my "To Do" list to keep me busy inside too:

YARD
-cut grass
-plant more bulbs
-dig up & move orn. grass
-take up rest of soaker hoses(?)
-seal bird bath
-cut back bigger planter on porch & bring in
-bring in other 3 porch planters
-move all planters from 1st floor to basement
-move orn. grass...now or in spring (would like to do it now, but will probably end up being done in the spring)!

HOUSE
-sand/stain woodwork
-strip/sand/stain wood in foyer
-decide on foyer flooring
-organize reloading stuff; set up place in basement (at least for tumbler)
-make use of space in upright freezer
-rebuild shelves under stairs, install cabs?
-fill gaps on N side of house from drought
-clean gutters--see about new ones?

OTHER
-get hunting gear together
-call dad to see what he needs me to bring this weekend
-organize files on lap top this weekend, copy hard drive to memory stick *don't override mem stick w/o copying Christmas list first

I'll finish this list tomorrow...I get to take the rest of the day off!!! YEAH!!!! :) :) :)
Get to go home & try to get some of these things done & beat the rain!!!!!!!
