Before the rain yesterday I was able to cut the grass, rake leaves, plant more bulbs, cut down & took out barberry, and cut back the rest of the planters & brought them inside.

Bulbs planted yesterday:
-8 more dark purple (queen of the night) tulips in front bed (on opposite side of other 8)
-6 pink hyacinth hollyhock in arch by Mary
-3 from pink tulip mix in front of clem on side
-25 grape hyacinth right of magnolia

Straightened up room in bsmt once the rain came. Had some good rain. Some areas nearby had nickel sized hail. The strong winds yesterday had almost all of the leaves blown off of the front trees.
Found more big branches in the yard from the back tree. Going to call & see how much it will cost to take it down...

Overall a good day- well, any day not spent at work is a good day!

Got the remaining 25 hyacinths planted last night before it got too dark. Put them on the left side of the magnolia. I really need more to go all the way around the fence & in front of the magnolia for one long border.
Still haven't heard from the tree man. Will have to check on that. I was looking at the 2 front trees...might have to take a couple of big limbs off those...looks like they are rotting I hope those ants aren't the culprits again.

Left work early yesterday. Thought I would be able to get the rest of my bulbs planted, catch up on laundry, and pack for this weekend. For some reason, I thought I'd take my truck back to TD first to get looked at AGAIN. Turns out it had nothing to do with the tire place & having not balanced them last month. they said I need new hub bearings. They tell me the right wheel is "about to fall off". Great. Called dealerships, took it to P. Over $1000. Just what I need right now. Had to unload what hunting gear I had already put in my truck, drive 45 min. to dealer & drive rental back. Found out from another source the parts only cost $180 and it would only take 1.5 hrs max for the repair. I know everyone has to make their $, but charging over $700 for labor??? Sounds ridiculous to me. Need to call them this a.m....just looked at the clock, it is after 8am, so went ahead & called them so they remember to call me first.
Called GM on my way home last night to try to get the other issue on the speedometer taken care of. No luck there, but did give him a piece of my mind about having to fork over another $1000 into a 3 year old truck. If that wasn't enough to get me fired up, D is really p.o.'d at me b/c I told him I was just going to get it fixed and deal with how to pay for it later. D wanted me to have P look at it, not let them do anything & then give him the truck. I said no, I am tired of dealing w/ it & need it fixed. Don't have time to mess with this. He is very angry with me right now. Stress level last night was beyond a 10. I'll be glad when this day is over. Can't wait to be sitting out in the woods and calm down. It is supposed to be a high of 54 tomorrow, so hopefully I won't freeze to death. Should be a good day for hunting and mind clearing.
Dad called last night to ask about this weekend. Told him I didn't know what was going on yet b/c I was having truck problems. He said if there was anything he could do to let him know. He said if I needed to borrow his truck to just let him know & he'd just huff it & walk to work (tear). Reminded me of how he was there for me when grandma died...
I did get a whopping 14 more bulbs planted last night. Only 4 left & they will be gone so I can buy more...oh, wait, I'm broke now, guess I won't be buying any more! haha...but not a funny haha
I really don't feel like cleaning tonight either. I should call in, but need the money now. I'm just going to keep waiting for tomorrow to get here. It is going to be better, I hope.
Guess I'll try to get some work done. I just really don't feel like it right now. I can't concentrate
Now I am debating on even posting such a dreary post. I don't want to go back & read it again b/c I'm sure it would put me in a depressing mood. Oh well, here goes...

so much for work...

Forgot to mention in the last post where I planted those 14 bulbs, darn [OoGBoO] syndrome...

7 pink passion tulips in each bed on either side of the side entry stairs (in between the liriope).

Dreary times indeed! Maybe something will come along to make everything better for you. happy smiley I'd point out that you have about 5 minutes to change your mind and delete a post, unfortunately I see that I am well past the 5-minute grace period to point out such a thing.

Love your new smileys, btw. I have been meaning to down load some for oh, about a year now... see every project I have takes forever!! lol

That smiley is making me very very hungry though...too bad I had that (large) cookie dough blizzard yesterday when I dropped my truck off to get fixed, or I'd of had one today! Hmm...that is 3 cookie dough blizzards in less than 1 week, so I should have gotten one today just to make it an even number (well it sounded good anyway).

(I didn't know anything about deleting a post either...only think I remember seeing is something in the profile section-is that what you are talking about or is there another way?)

Thanks to Ellie, I just had to have some.

You had another one? No fair! Now I'm way behind!

Think of it as Japanese floral design. Everything is better in threes (or odd numbers... so if anything, go for 5 or 6, not 4!).

See that little bar of 5 icons to the top right of each post (same place you find the icon for quoting a previous post)? The trash can, second from the right, is used to delete your own recent posts. And there you thought they were just for gathering flowers! LOL.

I've been noticing the neat color of the burning bushes around town. I think this is the best/brightest mine has ever looked. Makes me want to go out & buy another one :)

Yesterday after work I cut back all remaining hostas & daylillies (including the ones behind the fence) and planted muscari around the magnolia.

Tonight I will try to get the bulbs I bought on Monday planted.

It is supposed to be in the 60's today, then a cold front is moving in--supposed to be in the 40's tomorrow...brrrr
Flowerfreak Posted on Thursday, November 15, 2007 - 08:25 am:   Last Buddysize PhotosPrint Post

On Tuesday, I forgot to cut back 1 hosta by a/c unit and 2 daylillies by burning bush, so I did that yesterday after work. I also planted the remaining muscari. I put them in the front corner bed, behind the tree, in the arch. I also got 3 purple tulips planted in the left front tree bed (facing Grant), and 3 pink tulips planted in the same bed, on the opposite side of the tree, behind the heuchera. I ran out of day light so hopefully I'll get the rest of them planted after work today.

I watered the back & side landscaping (soaker hose) while I was planting bulbs. When I went down the basement, there was water by the Grant side of the bsmt. Never leaked over there until this summer. Must be from the dry summer. I also watered the front porch bed, 4 grasses front bed and the 2 front trees.

Went for a short walk before it started drizzling. I only got to the underpass before I decided to turn around. Went to see the kids before they had to go to bed. K let TT read to me some of his Saints book before he went to bed. Dort & K actually were sleeping by the time I left.

Almost done with the Christmas shopping. 16 people down, 5 left to buy for. I haven't a clue what to get D. Just 40 more days to think about it!

Planted the rest of my bulbs yesterday, cut grass, got all hunting clothes washed & got a lot of house cleaning done--my own house for once!!!

T & C came over after school & helped me clean. C & I also helped T study for his Religion test. Took them to dinner & then brought them home. It was then that I found out from K that T was studying the WRONG answers for his test! Helped him find the correct answers in his book & study those. Said goodnight to the girls & headed home :)

Bulbs planted yesterday:
-pink & purple tulips at big front right tree
-allium at bed outside back door (right of sedum)
-pink passion tulips in front of old tree stump & left of clematis
-8 allium at cutting bed: 4 on either side of rose

[OoGBoO], just 39 more days!! hehehehe

Things "blew up" at the farm this past weekend. All is just stupid & crazy. Little brother needs to grow up & start picking up after himself. Poor dad--put in a bad position with everything going on. I am in the middle of it all in a way too. Dad leaves after Thanksgiving for PA. Wish I could go. Maybe next year. Hope he has a safe trip. I don't like for him to travel up there by himself. It sounds like a lot of fun up there. Jeff's wife is a gardener so I could hunt and see new gardens! Two of my favorite things :)

I just worry about dad. Hope he keeps his head up. I have to remember to pick up a card to send with him on his trip, to cheer him up.

J has been very respectful towards dad. He cleaned up his sleeping area at the farm, brought food, asked permission to hunt & even called & thanked dad afterwards. Wish my brother(s) would do that. Dar needs a serious attitude adjustment.

Took off work yesterday to go hunting, but ended up working for TF 1/2 day instead. Also got fall clean up done at their house so there will be less for me to do there in the spring. Would of liked to have bought some bulbs & planted those in their front bed, but didn't have the time.

I borrowed the ladder from DSU to clean the gutters out. Ladder was pretty heavy so I called dad & he said he'd come over after work & help. Glad he came over, it was a big help getting the ladder moved. Also got some places on the dormers caulked while I was up there, and cleaned the egg off of the dormer from a few years ago. Since I only had white caulk and scrubbed the paint so hard to get the egg off that some of it came off, I will have to do some paint touch up in the spring. I also was able to find out where the critters must be getting in at too. It is way up close to the peak of the roof at the end of the dormer. I'll have to find someone that will/can climb up that steep & fix it. Lord only knows what has gotten in there. That explains the noises I sometimes hear of little feet scratching along my ceiling, ugh. Bats, mice & squirrels, I hate em' all!!

D U took off yesterday, today & is taking off Friday. A & kids are moving in w/ him. Poor A. What a hard time for her. She has apparently gone through a lot already, so maybe she can start looking ahead & not back at a rough past. 3 kids & your husband leaves you on Christmas...2 years in a row....and one of them right after you have a newborn...and I thought I hated this time of year. D & her came to mom's (I happened to be over there with Dort & K) and were unloading some furniture A didn't want into the garage. I went out to help & A just looked so tired. I am sure she is drained mentally & physically. She said she just wanted it to just be over with. I feel for her. Her kids are so cute & D already loves them as if they were his. Hope it all works out for them.

I need to find an appetizer recipe to make & bring to mom's tomorrow. I need to find something different. I'll have to browse my cookbooks tonight. The big family Christmas party is Saturday (since that is the day most people can make it & Dec. calendar is jammed already). That will be an all day affair helping out mom. She does so much for everybody!! I don't know how she does it.

P called me at work this morning to wish my family & I a Happy Thanksgiving. She is going to have dinner at her house this year. She & daughter are going to make sugar cookies from scratch tonight. It will be M's 1st time to do that. That should be fun for them. I am lucky to have a genuine friend like P. I hope her Thanksgiving dinner goes well :)

You caught me! hahaha....

Blue is my fav...pink just b/c I think the pink looks better against my gray (dreary) house. I guess I do like pink flowers--and that is about it for pink!

Kind of funny, but my brother's girlfriend & her kids just moved in w/ him & the little girl is around 4 or 5 & he gave in to painting her room pink! It is soooo funny b/c he lived alone for so long and he lives & dies U of K wildcats--everything blue & white. Nothing else. Just blue & white. That is the way his ENTIRE house was until this pink room (although he kept the UK border up!). She was so excited about her "pink room" she has to show everyone that stops by...my bro really likes that--not! hahaha
