3.45pm Hedge cutting is now complete. Weather has turned much colder, sun is shining but a very cold wind is blowing. Planted some more winter violas, then into the greenhouse, nice and warm behind the glass Still cutting back and cleaning fuchsia bonsai. Potted up some rooted penstemon cuttings. Here is a trailing fuchsia which I cut back on 29.09.03. Beginning to shoot again, will now be kept in the greenhouse until April/May when all risk of frost has gone.

Would you believe it, nearly the end of October and I have been out there giving everything a good soaking this morning. Here in the south east of the UK it is known to be the driest place here, but we usually have September rains. All we've had is the odd heavy shower. We seem to be going to the more 'Mediterranean' type weather over the past five years. Everyone blames it on to Global Warming, who knows, all I know is that it is getting drier and drier through the winter period. |

Not much going on in the garden these past few weeks. First drying winds, now foggy mornings and evenings but still not so cold for this time of year. Spent the last week tidying-up. Gathering fallen leaves from the trees, removing all the dead soggy leaves of the hostas and weeding. Planted more crocus and Fritilaria Michailovskyi bulbs and lots more violas for winter flowering |

Oh dear, my intention today was to do a bit more 'tidying-up' - started to rain in the night and is still pouring, maybe a better day tomorrow |

Not much going on in the garden at the moment. Past fortnight has consisted of fog, wind and lots of rain, definitely not gardening weather. Some geraniums are still flowering in the greenhouse, several strips of cuttings on the propagator and fuchsia bonsai are starting to shoot again after their Autumn cut-back and clean-up. Still enjoying reading all the 'posts' - at this time of year really envious of buddies who live in warmer climates |

No change here, still dreary ol' weather. Hoping for some bright frosty weather, then I could go outside and practice with the camera. Never mind plenty to do at this time of year, preparing for Christmas A little cheer, one of the encliandra fuchsia bonsai blooming in the greenhouse

Another week has passed by, RAIN RAIN RAIN RAIN RAIN, the only thing I have done outside is fill the bird feeders. Don't you just hate it when you have to have the electric lights on indoors ALL DAY LONG |

What a treat, not much sun today but a SW'ly wind, which makes the temps. a bit milder in my part of the world +12c/54f. Know it won't last, but take advantage I say. Worked in the greenhouse nearly all day. Repotting fuchsia bonsai and taking cuttings of same from the new growth that had to be cut back |

First signs of Spring

Well here we are then, it's officially SPRING . It's more like November today, admittedly it's not cold 10c/50f but boy is the wind blowing, gale force, have to brace yourself against it when walking outside. Still haven't been able to do much in the garden, ground is still very wet, but have been busy in the greenhouses, tending new rooted cuttings and repotting fuchsia bonsai, also removing large leaves of same. Yes Spring is happening here, even though the poor narcissi are being blown all over the place at the moment.
