From Wynne's we jetted over to another dahlia fan-gone-fanatic. If you need a dahlia fix, this would require about a ten second peek to get refreshed. I cannot imagine caring for these thousands and there used to be MORE- a huge field of 'more.' I can imagine rampaging through with a pruning shears and a few buckets though! That would be fun.
These folks are in the middle of moving. It must be very hard to leave such a wonderful place; complete with water wheel, moat and huge patio surrounding it
And a pond with koi at the other end. Surrounded by what else? Dahlias.
Lots of dahlias! Dahlias in the sun...
Dahlias in shade...
A purple that caught my eye.
A peach semi-cactus that caught my eye
And a bicolor that reminded me of Ala Mode, but smaller and rounder. There were tons of others that interested me, but no photos.
Wouldn't you be horribly sad to leave this, and many thousands I didn't photograph, behind? Not to worry! Here are a couple shots of their new place wisely pre-planted with even more dahlias. Big, flat, sunny and beautiful and with a gorgeous barn and a great greenhouse. This would be my idea of Dahlia Disneyland! If any of you ever get the chance, you should make time to visit some of the fine dahlia growers in this part of Washington. It is time well-spent and much enjoyed.

Anne- Do hope you come back next year and maybe bring some of the Seattle area gardenbuddies with you. Wouldn't that be a fun gardenbuddie get together?? So glad you got to see Jean's dahlias. She is going to miss her Koi pond, but said when she needs a fix she will come visit mine.

I would love to come back up there and tour more gardens. Just getting out of the city environment was a great treat, but throw thousands of dahlias into the mix and it was sheer heaven! You folks really live in a wonderful place there. I had forgotten how gorgeous it is to the north. When we first moved here 27 yrs ago we drove across Canada and then south to Seattle. We were in awe of the landscape: "Evergreen State" is right. Also noted that almost all highway signposts were made of wood vs metal. Very homey and rustic! Dahliaboy, you would not be disappointed with a trip up there! There are also at least two growers within about 4 miles of Sea Tac that would be open to visitors and worth your while.

Then there is my hubby, who when in the Air Force was stationed to the Evergreen State. He left Spokane by bus and woke up one mile from the base, Moses Lake. All he saw was sage brush. He thought he had taken the wrong bus. To be fair, he learned to love that area.
