I am interesting Konishi's dahlias very much, but in my county I found only one sort: Akita
(Now my site is broken and I can't give link on flower image - I shall do it later or see on my avatar).

Please, tell about other dahlias of Yusaku Konishi (may be with pictures, please?!)

Hi- this is a sport of Akita-No-Hatari called Vancouver. This isn't the best picture of it. It grows short maybe 2 and a half feet.
I'm so glad you have joined our dahlia sight.

Mirek,
Sometime earlier this year on another site, someone drove me to research Yusako Konishi's originations. I can't recall now if it was a specific dahlia, or all originations. BUT I do recall that online references to Konishi were very limited.

I'll see if I can find what I found before.

I hope your site comes back again and you can post more photos from Russia!

I saw some Konishi's sorts in the McClaren "Encyclopedia of dahlias" (2004) and descriptions in dahlia REG. All are very unusual.

Earlie I didn't know that Vancouver - Akita-No-Hikari's sport (I thought that Akita's sport).

Now I found UMI NO HARU in Latvia, but I don't see image.

I try to put my dahlia image into forum.

If I did all right, all must see my lovely sort Akita.

Those are beautiful, Mirek! Both are lovely rich colors.

Mirek, see if this link leads you to the list of introduced dahlias. Many are registered by Konishi.

Poochella, You gave me useful link (But where can I find this tubers?!) There are legal ways on delivery tubers or all other plants in Belarus. In this year I took some american dahlias with my estonian friend (Estonia is a part of Euro-Union). I see and reed with great interest american and canadian catalogues of the amateurs and professionals. And i don't know: can I see anywhere this excellent plants in my garden... So it is our life...

I went so far into looking at Konishi originations last winter that I was web surfing all over Japan, but never got to finding any tubers. It doesn't mean it can't be done though. I just gave up the hunt early.

I would start emailing people. Check for a dahlia association or society/group in Japan, perhaps? Check our American "Big List" for possible registry of his varieties there. There are two other links at the top of this page for UK dahlia location. Can't hurt to look. One clue often leads to another. Good luck.

I have Akita also, Mirek. It is interesting how different soils can affect the look. Here is a photos of mine which has more yellow than white accents:

I would love to find Vancouver!
