Those of you who use the metal fence posts to support your dahlias know what a beast they can be to remove-- esp. the ones with that spear-shaped thing by the bottom.
Our son, David who is always inventing stuff to make dahlia growing easier for Walt- invented this thing- a post jack- or something. It works somewhat like the old car bumper jacks used to- you know - back when bumpers were metal & a jack was something you didn't need an instruction manual just to figure out where it went?
Walt just attaches the doohinky (technical term, there) on the top to the post & pushes down on the handle & out pops the post! Ingenious!
He also made Walt a Post-thumper-inner-- but Walt preferred to stand on a 5- gal. bucket & use his 18 pound sledge-hammer to thump them in-- so David made him a step thing with a non-skid top so he didn't fall off of the bucket. Handy kid to have around!
Cory
