Some years ago I have got seeds of marmoraria. Now I have my first buds. I have looked years for this very small clematis.

Congratulations! Mine are still less than 3 cm high (about one inch). Sown july 2002. I saw it growing in the open in the rock garden at Harlow Carr, UK (not the warmest of gardens). I suppose they protect it in winter.

This is a photo from Brewster's collection, taken in early May. His Clematis marmoraria hybrid has bronze tinges in the foliage, whereas the species is uniformly green. Its flower also has more and smaller sepals than the species, and a yellow cast surrounding them.

It is already a very large plant are you sure that it is a marmoria. My plant was only abt. 7 - 10 cm. But it is very nice
