The rose should be able to grow outside I think but I guess the cyclamen will have to remain indoors...unless your climate is very very very different from mine.

A Kalanchoe Monique and the one at the rear I call a 'palmy sort of fern', I don't know the correct name either

Yes you're right GB in respect of the rose, it will survive outside. After the cyclamen has finished blooming and the leaves have died down I shall plant it in the garden when all risk of frost has gone. Previous small leaved varieties have survived in the garden and re appeared the following late Autumn. Our winters in this part of the UK rarely go below -5c/23f.

Nice gift!! All in one, and each a beauty on its own.

Bug, there's a number of cyclamen that are hardy in zone 5. Check out Seneca Hills Perennials in upstate New York (http://www.senecahill.com/cyclamen.html).

Thank you David for that info, will be very useful when I next visit the garden center as most of the labels on cyclamen doesn't state whether they are hardy or not.

Isn't it great when you get the perfect gift!

The palm is probably neanthe bella. I love the cyclamen, hope you can keep it.

That's so pretty Kath! I'm glad I popped in here today. The mini roses are one of the hardiest ones I have in my garden-they look so delicate but come through every time! My Momwho has just the greenest thumb ever, has kept a cyclamen going now for 3 years by letting it have it's dormant rest and then planting it outdoors for the summer in her shade garden. When she brings it indoor it is just loaded with blooms and away it goes again-covered with pink butterfly blooms!
I agree with Sue-the little palm is likely Neanthe Bella-one of the best little dwarf palms around; we used to use them a lot when planting up dish gardens for sale.

Really pretty arrangement-you have a good sister! (And I have a feeling you deserve such a nice gift ;-)
