I planted a rose in one of those cardboard boxes in the spring and it gave me one flower before it gave up.

I think the problem is not enough sun AND crowding from other plants. Can I move it now or should I wait for the spring or toss it out altogether?

I'm not an expert, but all I can tell you is last year I bought several
roses on sale in October and they survived just fine. I added lots of
bone meal to the hole and mulched them well after the ground was hard.

It would be better if you could wait another few weeks until the rose goes dormant. There's no problem at all if you move it then. Give the poor thing a second chance in a better spot.

That's what I want to do.

Hi Arlene! I once had a friend tell me she even dug one out of the trash a week later and planted it in a better location and it thrived. [she talked me into doing the same, and I got mine out of the trash, planted it, and its doing very well, lolol]! I think it's called Allspice.

I would wait tho for a month as Mara stated too.
Sure wish I could have seen your garden last week!
