I am so excited, a place that we can all migrate to for discussing our experience with growing these beautiful plants, posting our questions and sharing photos. From some of the posts previously, I think this should be a very exciting new forum.

This is exciting, I just ordered seeds from Seneca Hill. They don't have many left, mostly hederifolium, I had hoped for coum, but I decided the hederifolium seeds would probably be a good place to start. Fingers crossed.

Penney, glad to hear you are taking the plunge. You will probably have an opportunity to order more next year since you ordered now. I find Seneca Hill very nice to deal with. Ellen's instructions are more the traditional method as you will also find on the cyclamen society web page. I found Tim's less intimidating and much easier to follow. I did not go to the great lengths to insure darkness. Have fun!

Penny, YOU starting seeds? Hurray! I just gave one of my young cyclamen hederifolium seedlings to a friend for her birthday today. I know she'll baby it.

Penny, to keep your spirits high, I thought I would let you know that my seeds started in August have all germinated and I will be starting to transplant this week. Just keep them moist by watering about 1x per week. If you keep them somewhere a bit dark they don't dry out as quickly. You will also know when they are needing to be watered by the grit turning a lighter color and the pots feeling lighter. Marie, you sure are a wonderful friend to share your plants. I bet your friend was thrilled. I love forcing bulbs and giving them as Christmas presents. I am sure I will have enough cyclamen plants this Christmas to give as gifts.

Penny and Anne, do you have any seeds germinating yet? I ran out of soil and decided to resume transplanting after the holidays. Merry Christmas everyone!

Unfortunately Seneca Hill ran out of seed so they returned my check with a promise to send me their seed list next year. Oh well it will give me a longer time to read and absorb all of your experiences and maybe when I actually try seed they'll grow.
