Anyone know why some of the seedlings I am growing are germinating with a solid beige/pink leaf? Have two so far in my many seedlings, one on a coum and the other on alpinum.

Some of the Tilebarn cultivars emerge with a pink leaf.

Thanks Carol. Mine do not exhibit such colors yet, but I will make sure I hold onto these two to see what develops. Those are beautiful and I did not know this leaf color existed (new to cyclamen).

I have recently joined NARGS and will have to use the website more often. Looks like I have a wealth of information at my fingertips.

Oh dear. I realise I will have to have C. mirabile. I've been trying so hard to resist. Terry, could you post a photo of your leaves?

Mara, I will try. At this point they are so tiny and my photo taking/editing skills do not match those of others. Also, my leaves at this point are a solid color, no variation exhibited yet like those on Carols. This may happen on the true leaves in time to come. The interesting thing is one is in a pot with coum and the other is in a pot labeled alpinum. Now these seeds came from Tim, so perhaps over the weekend we will hear from him.

Like I said Mara I will try to post a photo that will show the leaf at this stage.

Mara, I have not forgotten you. Tried to take some pictures but the leaves are so tiny... I found that my C. mirabile are now starting to show leaf pattern and they are speckled with some pink. I am sooooo excited!

I may land up spending the winter in the basement looking at these guys.

I think I finally got a decent picture to show the leaf color. It is either one of my coum or alpinum. Any one have an idea what this is?

The next one is my C. mirabile. This group is just starting to exhibit some pink tones in the markings. Very excited after reading Carols post with Tilebarn cultivars link. Maybe this will develop into something like those.

Tim to do you have any pictures of your c. mirabile you can post?

Hi Terry,
I have Friday off of work and will scout around the glasshouses for some photos of whatever looks good. I think the seedling in question looks ill. I wouldn't be too surprised if it dies off. Don't worry though - it happens to everybody growing cyclamen from seed and is just one of those things. I could of course, be wrong and it may well throw a second leaf as these seedlings sometimes do - they don't always die. If the leaf had been silver, I would have said all is well and you'll end up with a silverleaf C. coum (I don't own any completely silverleaf alpinum - in fact, I've never seen one anywhere).

Your other seedlings look great, the mirabile look very good.

Hi Tim,

Things are strange on GB today, I am not getting any "new" tags on my forums. I thought everyone was taking the day off and cooking (at least here in US). I am sneaking a quick look at GB in between cooking the Thanksgiving meal.

Thanks for your feedback on the leaf color. Considering the amount of seedlings I have two seedlings that may have problems are not much to worry about.

My photo of my c. mirabile do not show the pink coloring as much as I had hoped. I will have to post again as they get bigger.

Enjoy your day off!
