Nice shot, Carolyn.

A rather sweet look, for an emu.

Did you get a shot of the whole bird? The young ones have pretty markings.

DH took movies of them when the ship he was on went to Australia back in the '70's.
He says the adult emus would break windshields by flinging rocks with their big feet as they ran. The movies he filmed in Australia are the best he ever did.

Anne, I did get the whole bird but it didn't come out well as it's body was in deep shade almost underneath the boardwalk. Here is a photo taken a couple of years back of a really young one.

Good protective coloration. You can hardly see him.

I wish there were some easy way I could convert Terry's old movies to a video clip. I fell in love with the little emus, though the adults don't look friendly at all.
