This is definitely a more delicate plant (for me) than the pink variety, but I love the purity of its white blooms.

What a simply charming plant and those lovely white blooms show up very well against the dark Heuchera.

I love the white one too, Patsy! It shows up so nicely in the shade garden. Mine is forming a very large clump.

Very pretty Patsy. I noticed mine was in full flower yesterday. Maybe today I will have time to photograph it.

I love them too. I have one which is struggling along. It is in my shade bed and I had thought it would get larger by now as its a few years old. Susan, what is your trick to getting it to grow larger?

Bleeding Hearts are one of my favorite flowers for sure. These do look very nice against the Heuchera...that gives me an idea... I have a big bush of pink bleeding hearts which this year seems to be flopping over to the point of breaking at the base. Did anyone else experienced this problem. Should I maybe split it and if so how and when?

Missgarden I had the same problem with a pink bleeding heart so what I did was got one of those tomato cages and in the early spring when it was just beginning to emerge, I placed it over the plant. As the plant grew up it covered the wire, but it gave some support to the branches. I just left it there over the winter (just laziness really )and it helped a lot to keep the plant from flopping over. I ordered Bleeding Hearts from Veseys. It was a great deal...5 roots, 3 pink and 2 white for $9.95. What I actually ended up with was 7 roots. I potted them up (silly me forgot to mark which was which) and one of the pots has begun to sprout...there are branches pushing through in 3 places. I have a feeling it is most likely the pink one, but hopefully I'll find out soon! These are one of my favorite flowers...they remind me of my grandmother's garden...along with Glads and Lily of the Valley.

Thanks Michele, I will try the support next year as it's way too late now. I haven't considered a support for this plant before as it was huge last year and I didn't have this problem. I think that I still would like to divide it if possible just to increase my stock. I might move it as well since now it's next to some gold mound spireas and I'm not thrilled with the combo of pink and neon yellow.

Ann, I agree. I have had some lily of the valley in my shade bed and for several years since planting it, I had no blooms. This year was their first and it smells so lovely.
